Thursday (I know it is Friday now) Freewrite --- Heirloom

Then I shall go again. Yesterday's freewrite courtesy of @mariannewest was heirloom. I was busy yesterday but I like the prompt so I am going with it.
It is my 21st birthday, I have patiently waited for this day. No, not because it is an important birthday but because today is the day that I inherit the family heirlooms. They get talked about a lot but never enough to reveal what they are.
I quickly showered and dressed, knowing that they would be waiting for me on the breakfast bar. Almost falling down the stairs and stumbling through the kitchen doors, squashing my dear little cat on the way. And there they were... nestled neatly between the boxes of cereal and milk, as though I would be able to eat any breakfast with the butterflies in my stomach. They were hidden slightly so I could not be sure what they were initially and I had to move closer, peering through before I could finally see them, shining... as though they had only been purchased yesterday. There were 3 of them in all, all very slightly different and all beautiful in their own way. I was afraid to touch them, not knowing if my grubby hands would damage them somehow

I like the same things as most other people, animals, gardening, cooking, travelling, photography, art, TV, music and films which is probably what I’ll write about most. I talk and swear too much and am always noticing things that I should not be noticing. I am the mother to two beautiful young boys and the wife to a caring husband.
