In recent years, I have enjoyed experimenting with "night sky photography" in my own neighborhood and "dark sky photography" when I get the chance for a road trip. Here are some past activities with my son (@cmp2020), and a couple of his friends (@astronomyizfun and @cmac).

This picture with Mars above the horizon, from our 2018 trip is still my favorite:
And I like this one, too, with the accidental effect of starlight reflecting off the car. Of course, I didn't even know about the reflection until I downloaded the photos later, but I like how it turned out.
Both photos were taken with a cell phone (on a tripod).
Honestly, these are incredible photos. But what impressed me the most was that they were made with a cell phone. Now I wanted to experiment myself.
