The 14th season of the IPL is now less than 10 days away. As such, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a major setback. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has withdrawn from the IPL this season. However, Hyderabad have replaced him with England opener Jason Roy.

The auction of players for the 14th season of the IPL was held in Chennai in February. At that time, no team had put Jason Roy in the auction. Roy was disappointed that neither team bought. He later reacted on social media, saying, "It's a shame not to be a part of the IPL this year." But now that Mitchell Marsh has withdrawn, Hyderabad have included Roy in their squad at a base price of Rs 2 crore.

Roy made his IPL debut in 2017. So far in the IPL, he has played for Gujarat Lions and Delhi Capitals. Roy has scored just 179 runs in eight IPL matches with a strike rate of 133.58, including a half-century. However, Roy has done well in the recent five-match T20I and three-match ODI series against India. So Sunrisers Hyderabad can benefit from his excellent form.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, tweeted that Mitchell Marsh had withdrawn for personal reasons. However, Corona has made it mandatory for players to stay in the bio bubble, but Marsh did not want to stay in the bio bubble for long, so it is understood that he withdrew.
