INDEPENDENCE DAY IN NIGERIA

its amazing and special day in Nigeria. It's was the commemorating of the Nigeria's freedom.
It marks Nigeria's proclamation of independence from British rule on 1st of October 1960. Let me briefly explain how it happen. In 1914, the southern Nigeria protectorate was combined with the northern Nigeria protectorate to create the colony and protectorate of Nigeria, which has the borders of the modern day Nigeria. By the late 1950s,the call of independence of territories in Africa and the decline of the British empire led to the country being granted independence on 1st of October 1960 as a federation of Nigeria. Three years later, the constitution was amended and the country was declared the federal republic of Nigeria of which late General Nnamdi Azikiwe, previously Governor General, was the first president.

This holiday is celebrated annually by the government of Nigeria. The festivities begin with the president's address of the people, which is broadcast on radio and television stations. The celebration also reaches all the sectors in Nigeria, including ministry of foreign affairs, and Nigerian Army Force, the The Nigerian Police Force, The Workforce and National services. The president of Nigeria and his cabinet are in attendance as civil-military parades at Eagle's Square in Abuja (FCT).
While in the states, the Nurseries, Primaries and Secondaries schools perform a ceremonial March Pass in the capitals and in each of their local government areas where they are located. Like in Akwa Ibom State, the capital which is Uyo the Governor or his representative will stand on a podium giving and receiving salutation from the sectors and students.

This I tell you brings joy, I mean so much joy in children and teen's heart, because it's liken to be a special day for them apart from Christmas and new years in Nigeria.
The young adults won't let it slide and pass just like that without having fun. They will probably paint the town red with carnival of all sorts, and they will display their prowess in fashion and culture, partying is the order of the day. The streets will be filled with greens and whites as celebration filled the air, individuals and groups troupe with full basket of joy. A 21-guns salute is fired by a detachment artillery regiment as the event is brought to a close.
