"Steemit Engagement Challenge S9-W3: "Kindness that changed my life"
Hello everyone, welcome to my post. In this post, I will be participating in the engagement challenge titled "Kindness that changed my life"
What was the act of kindness that impacted your life? Describe the situation
The act of kindness that impacted my life was the payment of my WAEC and JAMB fees by my uncle. Things were really hard for my parents when I was in senior secondary school because my dad got laid off from his job and my mother was barely making enough to fend for the family talk more of paying my school tuition. So it got to the period went I was supposed to pay for my WAEC examination and to also enroll in JAMB so I can get an opportunity to be in the higher institution and there was no money to pay for the fees. Luckily for us, my father’s distant cousin contacted my father after so many years then he narrated all we were passing through to him so he offered to give my father a million naira to start a small business for himself and he also told my father that he will be in charge of paying my WAEC and JAMB fees and also sponsor me throughout my stay in the University. I and my family were so happy because finally our prayer for help has been answered by this act of generosity😌.
What were the emotions you were feeling at that time?
At that moment in my life, my heart was filled with so much sorrow I remember questioning God and asking him why he left my family to be in such a terrible state in our lives. I usually sit down and remember times when we had everything and also when we were able to afford to eat three square meals in a day. The smile my mother had on her face whenever she is in the kitchen preparing supper for both I, my siblings and for my father to eat when he get back from work. After my uncle helped us, I promised myself that I will utilize this opportunity that was given to me and strive to make lives better for my family once again.
How did that act impact you? (Financially, emotionally, etc)
This act of kindness impacted me in so many ways both mentally, psychologically, emotionally, physically, financially and so on. It actually helped me become the man I am today and I’m forever indebted to my uncle for being there for us at our lowest.
What are the lessons you learnt from that incident? Did it change your perspective on kindness and the way you treat others?
It really changed my perspective on kindness and the way I treat others because before this incident occurred, I use to have this mindset that family relatives don’t really care about you when you are at your lowest. They only cared when you are progressing and draw close to you when you are celebrating your successes. So after witnessing what my uncle did for us and how intentional he was about it, it made me realize that good relatives do exist and it is also good to speak up on your problems because you might never know where your help might come from.
After this incident, I learnt to imbibe the act of showing kindness to people no matter what they do to me and to help people who are in need for assistance in any way I can.
Did you manage to pass it forward by showing kindness to others? How?
Yes I was able to pass this act of kindness to people around me in the best way I can. I don’t really have a specific way that I show kindness to people but I chose to make it a lifestyle so as to make a good impact in the lives of people that I come in contact in the best of my abilities.
Conclusion
I believe that good people (esp. good relatives)still exist even when the situation of things happening in the world shows the contrary. We should never seize the opportunity to be kind to people in the best way we can and to try to make a good impact to people we encounter so that it turn, that same energy can be reciprocated to us.
I will like to invite, @josepha, @inspiracion and @anasuleidy to join in this contest.

It's kind of heartbreaking to know that many people in this world feel that way about their relatives. It's sad but true, anyway. Relatives can be totally the opposite to what they should be, but fortunately there is always someone in our families who we can count on. I'm glad you found it in the figure of your uncle. God bless him!
Yeah, there is always someone in our family who we can count on. I’m glad I figured it out.
