Assalamu Alaikum dear steemians,

Happy Bengali new year. I hope everyone is well. Today I'm sharing a diary with you. Let's start.

Now the holy month of Ramadan is going on and it was the first day of the Bengali calendar. It is a special day for every Bengali. This day is celebrated with great pomp every year. Every year a huge fair is organized in my village house on the first day of Boishakh. Sad but true I could not stay at the village house on the first Baishakh this year. However, we are friends living in a mess in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. We decided to eat Panta Ilish, a traditional dish at Iftar. And wandering outside on the day of Ramadan will not be okay. So we canceled the plan to go out. By planning these, we had Seheri.

As soon as I woke up, it was almost sunny and it was afternoon. Then I went out to market. We have to buy a lot of things. Panta Iliah means not only fried fish and panta rice but also some other special items.

I went to Rayer Bazaar with my friend Sokal. Going there, I first went to the fish shop. First I fixed the price with Mama, the fishmonger. On the first Baishakh, more or less everyone buys hilsha fish. So the price of fish skyrocketed. So it is better to fix the price first. We bought 1 pair of hilsa and took pictures of the fish to capture the moment. But since seller uncle was a very lively person, he asked me to take pictures with him. The picture below is that picture.

Then I went to buy vegetables. I said in the previous post that I don't know the name of the vegetable shop owner. This time I found out his name before going to the store. His name is Mohammad Billal Hossain. I bought some vegetables from his shop. First I bought round brinjal, fried to eat. After that, I took Orka and Gourd. These two are also for frying. These are my favorite foods. Then I took lemon, cucumber, tomato, coriander leaves, and green pepper. These are for salads. I also took raw mango with me. I am giving the price of each one below.

After shopping, we returned home with the purchased goods. So I fixed a rickshaw and returned home in a rickshaw with Sokal. On the way back I took some selfies. I added one of them below.

After coming home and taking some rest, I started cooking. In the beginning, I cut the fish and marinate it with all the spices. I also marinated gourd in two. After keeping it in this condition for a while, the frying work starts. I took some pictures before that. I did a little design for this. Then I put oil in the pan for frying the fish and lit the stove. As soon as the oil was hot, I gave the fish one by one and put them around. Since there was no place to fry 2 fish at a time in the pan, I had to fry them one by one.

We call the aunt who cooks in our mess. She helped us to make mashed potatoes, lady's finger fry, and fish cutting. We only take the responsibility of frying fish because fried fish does not have a taste when it gets cold.

So anyway, once it's fried, it's time to serve. At this stage, I first picked up the fish and served it on a plate. To serve, I fried the fish with cucumber, tomato, coriander leaves, green chilies, mashed potatoes, and fried gourd and arranged everything on a plate.

I took a few pictures after the service. By then it was time for Iftar. So without further ado, I sat down for Iftar with my friends.

Maybe if we could go to the village house, the day of the first Baishakh could be celebrated in a more grand manner. However, I was quite happy with the Iftar that I organized with my friends from this mess. I hope you enjoyed reading this diary of mine as well. Thanks, everyone for reading my blog. May Allah bless you. Happy Steeming.

Your diary appears to be quite fascinating. The fish appears to be really tasty. We are all aware of Bangladesh's fishing dominance. I'm hoping to visit Bangladesh at least once and sample those fresh fishes
