TOPIC: CHRIST THE GREAT ONE
“He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the highest and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.” Luke 1:32.
This was one of the positive statements Angel Gabriel gave to Mary regarding the infant Christ.
The angel declared to Mary that the child she was carrying will be called the Son of the Highest and the throne of His father David will be given to Him.
And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.
In the visit of the Angel Gabriel to Mary, there are seven ‘shalls’ that will be considered of influence to the great one:
(1). The shall of Incarnation - you shall conceive a son.
(2). The shall of Designation - His name shall be called Jesus.
(3). The shall of Exaltation - He shall be great.
(4). The shall of Determination - He shall be called the Son of the highest.
(5). The shall of Identification - The Lord shall give unto Him the throne of His father David.
(6). The shall of Dominion - He shall reign over the house of Jacob.
(7). The shall of Continuation - Of His kingdom there shall be no end.
Christ, the great one took the greatness of a great God as described in Titus 2:13.
Our God is great in many ways, He is great in nature for He is love, He is great in character for He is holy, He is great in name for He is Jehovah.
He is great in creation, for His works declare His skill, He is great in promise, for He is Yes and Amen, He is great in purpose, He is the sum of all things. That is why Jesus is described as the express image of His Father.
