Not again, and not today I cry as I open my gate to step out of the house. The flood is back!!

Today has started off rainy. It's been raining all through the night and into this morning and I can tell you, the weather doesn't look like it is about to let up anytime soon.
Beating down with a frenzy as though it was angered by the gods. It's strokes are painful to my body as i quickly run back for shelter in my room.
Stilling and foiling the plans of whom ever made them, the rains don't seem to care as it continues to beat down from heaven daring anybody strong willed enough to go against it's current. School students and workers who couldn't brave it early enough will just have to stay home today.

I don't even have any options of stepping out of my house except I will scale my neighbours fence as my street is flooded coupled with the rains.

This has been my experience of late. Every morning I wake up to a flooded street 😭. The ocean in my state has overflown it's bank abi the state government opened the dam to let out excess water. Whichever way, it has resulted in flooding for half of the city.

I was speaking with someone yesterday and she was telling me that even the high rent paying areas of the city are also badly affected.

Ways I think flooding can be reduced!!

• Building enough Drainage and gutter systems.

• Proper maintenance of the already existing gutters and drainage. They need to be properly and constantly cleaned and emptied of debris for them to be working at optimal levels. This enables the free flow and passage of water into the canals.

• Afforestation:: Planting of trees along the river banks and in the cities to absorb water.

• Building Dams to stop the flow of the water inland.

These and many more can be done to checkmate flooding as the result of the floods are devastating. I have neighbours who every morning the floods come, their houses are filled with water. Their beds, clothes and other valuables are soaked. This has continued for years. Once the water subsides, they will begin scooping water out of their houses. .
My only escape is that my landlord had the wisdom to raise the flooring of his house.

Oh well, I'm happily stuck in the house. As per the time I'll be able to step out and get something to eat, I don't know for now, but till then, I'll be keeping safe.
