Introduction

Good day everyone, please find some time to go through this post and learn how robots are influencing our world.

Technology today is underrated. Science is getting the best of it. But in my opinion, to create a better secured future, science should work hand in hand with technology while technology should be the decider or executor of the modern activities.

In this post, I am going to show how robots has been useful, the possibility of having a robot-dominated world in the future, and how robotic engineering can improve the efficiency of Robots.

What is a Robot?

A robot is an artificial intelligent structure, programmed to carry out some specific tasks to ease and minimize humans activity.
Another name for Robot is "Machine"

We have ignorantly forgotten about the earliest and irrelevant robots or machines because everyday, new and more effective machines are being designed by scientists and technicians. From the definition of robot or machine, the sole aim of robotic engineers is to create a machine that can carry out some activities required by humans to ease life for humans and develop the world.

What Robots can do

To me, Robots can be classified into five different specifications of duty :

  • Technical duties
  • Computer duties
  • Domestic duties
  • Verbal duties
  • Utility duties

Technical Duties

Many robots are programmed to carry out mechanical works. For example, in big factories and companies, some robots are used in moving heavy products, serving workers with work equipment, driving pills and lifters, and controlling the work load. These robots are high programmed in a powerful way and they need adequate maintenance and servicing in order to be effective. They are programmed to be machinery or robotic technicians.

Computer Duties

These specification of robots are designed to be computer wizards. They can be called "the computers themselves". They are accurate than humans while carrying out their duties. And they do not apply preferences or flawed decisiveness.

Most companies in the United States, Germany, Switzerland and Australia prefer using robots in computer offices or work posts to ensure accuracy and safety. Moreover, the maintenance is high because of the rate and costs associated with creating, programming and maintaining Robots.

Domestic Duties

In our homes, private facilities and other casual structures, robots are implementable. They can run errands, serve as timers, server as regulators, loneliness killers, and entertainment. Some families in the western world keep their young children in the company of robots that are programmed to teach children how to speak a language, how to read, and how to study computers.

These children end up being almost perfect in language and computing. Although there are disadvantages, robots are really effective in this aspect. Some robots run errands, clean the house, serve as doorkeepers, serve as informants, and watch-robots. These activities eases the work load on humans.

Verbal Duties

In this case, robots are used to correct wrong pronunciation, teach people the right pronunciation, teach a new language, teach children how to speak, communicate with people, keep sick ones company, by replying them anything they say through a computerized scheme cloned from the human behavior. They reply like humans and can have a corresponding answer to anything you say to them. This further leads us to the effectiveness of simulation in science and technology.

Utility Duties

Robots that fall into this specification are versatile. They can be used to play games, run errands, operate the computer, detect an error or a bridge in a computer network, communicate with a second party in computer education, and also can be used to enlighten and educate people.

An article on robots that can do crazy futuristic stuffs states :

Today we have robots that can self-replicate, re-assemble after being kicked apart, shape-shift, swarm, create emergent effects, build other robots, slither like a snake, jump to the tops of buildings, walk like a pack mule, and run faster than a human. They even have their own internet. Put it all together and you realize that we're in the midst of a robotic revolution that's poised to change virtually everything. - Full article /Source

Yes, just as the last sentence there, we are really in a robotic revolution that is poised to change virtually everything!

Disadvantages of Robots

Well, I can say that there are basically four disadvantages of Robotic technology.

  1. High cost of what I call 'The POM' which is an acronym for : Production, Operation and Maintenance of robots. Some work with expensive batteries, others are charged electrically, some are self dependent and generate their own energy while performing their duties, while some are solar energy-inclined. In any case, the 'POM' cost is very high.

  2. Poor interaction, relationship and communication within humans. This implies that the use of robots make some people not to acknowledge and recognize the importance of the human behavior. Most kids that were trained with robots end up being lonely, depressed, self isolated and always bothered.

  3. Cyber insecurity and cyber addiction. This implies that there can be risks of scam, network failure, bridging, and other disappointing factors on the computer schemes that control robotics.

  4. Negative results caused by excess exploitation of the Natural elements. Some of these results are the depletion of the ozone layer, pollution of oxygen, and misuse of gasses. These exploitations are done sometimes while testing the efficiency of robots and mostly, while using them.

Now, the biggest question is:

IS THE USE OF ROBOTS ESSENTIAL FOR THE WORLD'S FUTURE?

The answer for me is YES! But at the same time, it should be controlled and a balance should be stricken to maintain the value, dignity, outstanding nature and superiority of humans.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you've learnt something new about robots!
