Blood donation in commemoration of the 79th Charity Day

Hello steemian friends, today Thursday, January 2, 2025 we all employees who served under the environment of the Lhokseumawe City Ministry of Religion Office gathered at the Lhokseumawe City PLHUT hall to carry out blood donor activities in commemoration of the 79th Charity Day (HAB). This activity is in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Lhokseumawe City.

On that occasion, I had registered as one of the blood donors. But after going through the examination results from the doctor on duty they did not allow me to do blood donation, the reason was because I had done blood donation on November 6, 2024.

The doctor explained that blood donation should be done after a period of 60 days from the previous blood donation. Of course I was a little disappointed, but the doctor's decision must be accepted because it is the best reason for my body's health.

I myself am interested in participating in blood donation activities because I understand the many benefits it brings to the donor's body. I have high cholesterol and since I donated blood about a month ago I no longer experience pain in my shoulders and neck.

In addition, blood donation helps the body to produce new blood cells, with this the blood liquefies more so that the blood supply to the whole body becomes better. So I had to wait for another day to be able to donate blood regularly.

Besides, blood donation is also very helpful for people in need, of course by becoming a blood donor we have become a hero for others in need.

While I was there, I could only watch my friends doing blood donation activities, there are several stages if someone wants to do blood donation.

First they have to fill out a registration form, the officer then reads the form and conducts a small interview about the history of the disease, have had breakfast, when was the last blood donation and so on.

Next, participants will be directed to the next table for a blood pressure check by a doctor, followed by a blood sample test to determine the blood type of the donor participants.

If you have successfully passed all these stages, you can immediately lie down on the bed that has been provided, later there are officers who serve the blood donation process until it is complete.

We can also see that when the officers do the blood donation process they put the blood bag under a scale, the blood must reach a certain weight. If I'm not mistaken the blood taken in one bag weighs 350ml.

Nurses are doing their job, making sure the blood flows smoothly.

Participants who have donated blood will get food, snacks and drinks. In addition, at the location I saw that there was mung bean porridge provided for the donor participants, it is known that this mung bean porridge is useful for accelerating the production of new blood cells.

Chairman of the committee Tgk Erdika said that participants who do blood donation also get souvenir bottles of drinks. Of course this aims to encourage the spirit of the donors to get health benefits for their bodies and also get a prize even though in a small form. I think the organizers have done a great job in this activity.

On the sidelines of the activity I had a chance to talk with Tgk Erdika as the chairman of the committee, I said that this blood donation activity should not only be done once a year, not only done when commemorating the 79th HAB.

But how can this program be continued every 2 months or 3 months after this activity ends, because considering the many health benefits obtained, especially for donors and others in need.

The input and suggestions that I conveyed were welcomed by the chairman of the committee, he promised to work on the suggestions I had given by seeing how the responses of other participants. But personally he strongly agreed with the opinions I had given.

After the end of this activity it was known that around 79 offices of blood were successfully collected, hopefully the donors continue to get health benefits for their bodies and the blood that has been donated to be useful for others in need.

Thus our blood donation activity today, precisely at noon before the call to zuhur prayer all donor participants have successfully carried out blood donation activities, the event then ended with a group photo and lunch activities.
