Has anyone here ever seen any of these birds physically ?
You know well the answer, but the photos of these beautiful creatures were taken from Uganda in different regions.
I took most of the time kneeling in the grass, summering and crawling like a snake in order to get these shots! Do you know what became so funny here? As I was doing so in the shorter grass and wetland mud, some of the school kids were bassing by and saw me ! They all paused their movements and thought I was a mad boy at the birds, they started laughing at me seriously. As this never got me out of the game, I took onbe of my favorite photo of the Intermediate egret on a fish hunt in the middle of the water body. To make the kids get it right, I called one of them who was older and showed my photo on the camera screen! This made him scream "woww! wow " he got happy and called the mates. They became my great friends and promised me to be moving with me on birding walks.
The second and the third photo were taken from the western part of the country, Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth national park. I got these beautiful pink-backed pelicans swimming on the waters of Kazinga channel
This bird has a very large beak and mostly feeds on fish in the shallow waters of lakes and rivers of East Africa. They use the beaks to scoop fish and water at the same time in the water surface and water is finally trenched out through its beak tip while the fisn is swallowed alone.
The below photo is of a goliath heron on a snake hunt. This heron is the biggest in the heron family. Most of the times it is called the giant heron. It usually feeds during the early mornings and the evenings nearby wetlands. Not only does it feed on snakes, but also the amphibians like toads and frogs.
