The diary game 23-02-2023: My experience at the bank
Good day everyone, it is a pleasure to be here once again. In my country Nigeria, we have been faced with so many challenges, most recently is the change of the naira note which has unfortunately lead to scarcity of the new naira note and has left so many in despair.
Sometimes when the banks are open we go to the bank to get little cash. So I will be sharing my experience at the bank.
A day at the bank |
---|
Like every other day, I woke up cashless, with no hope of getting cash. One thing I know about Nigerians is that we know how to endure and persevere in very hard circumstances.
I prayed, brushed my teeth, I took my bath, I ate. I was set for the day's activities. Then I just realized that I needed some cash because where I live you will need cash to settle some of your needs. For example, when you want to board a tricycle, when you want to buy cooking items and some other things.
Then, I heard that my bank was open and was dispensing some cash to customers. So I quickly rushed to the bank. This was around 11am.
At last I arrived at the bank. I met a large crowd of people who were outside waiting to go inside the bank. I discovered that others were given numbers so I collected my own number. I was number 250 I almost melted because even the 100th person has not been attended to.
It then dawned on me that I will not be attended to that day or even if I would be attended to, I would have to spend the whole day waiting.
Then I remembered that one of my fellow church member was working in that bank so I called him but he said he could not come out due to the bank's policy. So I continued waiting.
After about one hour, to my greatest surprise I saw my church member coming outside to meet me. I was very happy 😊. He took me inside and within the shortest time I was able to get my cash. I felt like a big man. Others who were outside with me were all surprised.
The most amazing part was that immediately after I entered the bank, they stopped others from entering because they didn't have enough cash anymore. This is what I call Favour. I know others may call it cheating but all I know is that I was favoured.
I collected my cash and I was on my way out of the bank when I discovered that the crowd outside had forced their way inside the premises of the bank. They were furious, shouting that they must collect their money.
Thanks to the police who later came to calm the aggrieviated crowd.
I would like to use this as an opportunity to beg the federal government of Nigeria to consider the suffering of the ordinary people because this is what people have to pass through everyday so they can get money to feed and do other things.
And to every citizen of Nigeria, please don't be discouraged, all these shall pass and we will come out stronger and better.
Thank you, friend!

It can be so frustrating going to the bank these days. Since the cash issue started, I can't remember the last time I went to the bank.
I can imagine the feeling when you were walking in like a president into the bank. That was favour.
People are seriously suffering in this country just to access what belongs to them.
Nice reading your diary.
Best regards*
Thanks so much for your kind reply. I just thank God for the person I knew there if not I would have not been to get cash that day.
Aah I just wish where your bank is located is close to my location, I would come and join the queue and I won't mind the crowd.
I am glad you were able to get the cash you needed.
It's in Bayelsa oh and they don't even have cash anymore.
My God!! Beyelsa is really far..
It's all good.
