Cold Water is Not Good for Health

As we know, water does have benefits for body health. Because water is one of the healthiest drinks that is recommended to be consumed every day. Only water contains zero calories so it has extraordinary properties. However, it is a shame that many people prefer to drink cold water. Cold water may be refreshing, especially if you drink it in the very hot sun, but it actually needs to be avoided. By drinking water regularly you can maintain fluid levels in the body. So that the body does not experience disturbances in the function of digestion and absorption of food, as well as the function of other body organs.

Because of these benefits, we are highly recommended to consume at least eight glasses or 2 liters of water every day. Everyone has different habits in consuming water. There are those who prefer to drink plain water, but there are also many who like to drink cold water. According to research by experts, cold water is not a good choice for consumption. Cold water can disrupt the digestive process and cause discomfort and bloating.

Although cold water can freshen the throat, it causes respiratory problems by increasing mucus production, and has a negative impact on metabolism. Here I have summarized at least 5 reasons to avoid consuming cold water: First "Can trigger digestive problems". Frequently drinking cold water can cause difficulty defecating because cold water can constrict blood vessels and slow down the breakdown of food in the stomach.

Second "Causes breathing and throat problems" Drinking cold water can cause respiratory problems, ranging from coughs, sore throats and colds because cold water produces excess mucus. The shock of cold water can cause the throat muscles to feel momentarily tense. Thus, making the swallowing process uncomfortable or painful.

Third "Affects metabolism" A person's body expends extra energy to raise the temperature of cold water to an internal temperature level called thermogenesis. Therefore, it is recommended to drink water only at moderate temperatures because it can increase the metabolic rate to a more stable level, while minimizing stress on the body's energy reserves.

Fourth "Cold water affects heart rate" Cold temperatures stimulate the vagus nerve, which runs at the back of the neck. The vagus nerve controls the body's involuntary activities. Cold water can trigger these nerves, which slows the heart rate. Those who have heart problems should avoid consuming cold water to avoid unexpected problems.

Fifth "Inhibits nutrient absorption" Drinking cold water can reduce the body's ability to absorb nutrients. If the digestive system is not functioning properly, cold water entering it can prevent the entry of important nutrients from food.
