Weekly Reflections #28: Amazing Wildlife I've Seen
I am presenting here an old trip when I was posted in Bangalore and my friends and I were planning to visit Bannerghatta National Park. I had been thinking about the Bannerghatta Jungle Safari for a long time, so when one of my coworkers asked me to plan a trip, I agreed and we formed a group.
“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” – John Muir
As we moved ahead, the urban areas of Bangalore were left behind, and there, Bannerghatta National Park was waiting for us. I was amazed to see the greenery in the park and thought I should have come here earlier.
Our safari shuttle started at 10:30 am. This was a relief. We bought our tickets and headed towards the shuttle waiting area. We had a booking for 10 people for Rs. 900, which has probably gone up a lot now. Apart from that, everyone bought their own tickets for the room.
This was not a real forest but very close to it and a great opportunity for me to explore this national park and see what India’s largest jungle park really has to offer.
One can explore the entire park by jeep safari, AC bus safari, or non-AC bus, which is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The safari timings are between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm. They have a number of lakes and water bodies inside the park where we can go for boating.
We had planned to use public transport from Bangalore City Transport, so boarded their air-conditioned Volvo buses. We reached the national park area at 9:45 am via Bannerughatta Road and bought entry tickets for Indian Rs. 30 per person for all 10 of us. Remember, this trip was held in 2007, so the ticket prices must be increased to a higher price.
The park has solid rocks, and as we entered, the landscape that appeared was simply amazing, and the lakes glittering in the sunlight.
I thought all this would provide a different kind of calm and an adventure on our safari. Indeed, Bannerghatta National Park promises to give an experience that offers the beauty of the forest even if not too far from the city.
Spread over 260 square kilometers, Bannerghatta National Park has a lion and tiger safari with enclosures that recreate their natural habitat. The best part here is that you can see them up close.
Apart from this, there is a snake park, a butterfly park, a zoo, and a nature camp for children. Apart from this, there is the Bannerghatta Nature Camp, which has tented cottages, log huts, and dormitory facilities.
The Bannerghatta National Park and zoo of Bannerghatta National Park has a number of animals like king cobras, panthers, crocodiles, bears, deer, butterflies, different fish and birds.
We saw white Lions walking on the path, but otherwise they are kept in a large area inside the Bannerghatta National Park and can be seen up close during a lion safari.
The same is about Tiger Safari, we saw them up close while driving through that area. This park has a lot of tigers, including white tigers. Otherwise, the tigers are kept in different groups, but one group is released at a time in the reserved forest area for tourists to see.

Butterfly Park: There is a large butterfly park in the Bannerghatta National Park.
We were expecting heavy crowds on weekends, but we had already booked, so we didn’t face any problem.
We were roaming around and passing time near the entrance. Then we entered; it was around 10:25 by then. And soon we became a group of 30 people, and our journey began. It was good that we were in the queue first because those who entered first sat in the front seats of the bus. We had a great location because from here we got to see most of the action and got a better view.
The shuttle bus had grill bars all around and some circular and rectangular holes. Now this is a thing of the past, and I have very few photographs left; otherwise, you would have shown how scared one of our female friends was when a lion came near the window of our bus. But I don't have that picture now.
We continued our journey through the shuttle, seeing deer, bears, lions, and finally passing through the tiger safari. I am thankful to our guide, who called me in front of the bus and gave me a chance to take some great photos. But for your info, I gave him a little tip in advance (as suggested by one of my friends who had visited this park before).
But it was not like they were not having fun. I saw a bear coming towards us on the open road. The excitement was back in our whole group! We had a lot of fun during that trip and visited the fish and butterfly section. We could have visited more sections, but the girls in the group spent a lot of time in a park.
I saw the bears, different looking bears and I was not expecting them to be behind a barricade, but that is what they were, but I was expecting to see them roaming around freely, but maybe there was an accident in this area recently.
So, okay, that's how we get a wild experience in such a situation. We all know bears are a bit of a wild animal.
Soon it was time to leave, but we wanted to see more. This was not all about my trip to Bannerghatta Safari, but I have no more photos as this trip was carried out in 2007.

What a beautiful place to be. However, I do find it difficult to visit a place where such dangerous animals are kept or found. I can see those who were in the vehicle were afraid of tigers. My question is if the vehicle develops a fault like having a flare tire, how would it be fixed having those dangerous animals around?

They will bring another similar one and tow it back to safe areas. There are different transport system like grilled buses AC and non AC, jeeps and the ones you are seeing here.

Thank you so much for sharing your traveling and visit towards the Safari Park. It is really big park with the presence of the wildlife. It is by nature that the humans are afraid of the wild creatures. This is the reason one of your female friends was scared. I cannot even think to visit the park without the safety measures.
Once in the election days in Pakistan I saw a real lion in front of me but in the cage. They brought lion as their symbol of selection. It was really big and like a big cow or buffalo and I haven't thought that it would be like that.

Thanks @@@damithudaya, much appreciated!
Wait
When the Lions climbed the bus, did the people scream? I’m sure they did
That’s risky
I’m shocked…
People did not screem, but they snapped shots!
