Increase average temperature, abnormal rainfalls, earthquakes, increase in water levels, tsunamis of very high rates, this is what I see each time I see the news. Alot of things have changed ever since industrial revolution came in play, big factories opened, high power machines working 24/7 to produce products necessary for our good living. Most countries have forgotten about protecting the planet because they want financial gains and sometimes because of power over other countries.

Global warming is the increase in the annual average temperature of the world, it became a call for concern in the year 1980 when record keeping began. It was noticed that for the past 40 years, temperature rosed by double the amount from 0.18 to 0.32 degrees Celsius.

The results from this temperature increase is a planet hotter than before, and the hottest years were recorded to be 2005, 2015.

Global warming occurs when gases such carbon dioxide, dusts, smoke and other pollutants accumulate in the atmosphere. This gases and pollutants take a very long time to dissociate and so they fill up the atmosphere. When the sun light hits the Earth and is radiated back into space, it is blocked by these pollutants gases atmosphere, making the Earth to experience an increase in temperature this effect known as th green house effect.
The largest sources if green house gases are transportation, second by electricity and last by industrial activities.

The planets ecosystem is so unstable and very linked that a change in one element can a chain reaction.
Scientist say that;

• droughts in most places of the world have increased in duration, and the people are experiencing longer days of dryness.
• Seas amd oceans have gained temperature,meaning tropical storms will pick up more energy and will be increasing from category 3 to category 4 storms which are much more dangerous.
• United States is experiencing hurricanes of very great heights of above 30 meters tall, causing them from $100 to $300 billion worth of damages and over 3,300 fatalities, in the recent years.
• Increase temperature has led to death of thousands of humans due to hunger and lack of water.
• Global warming caused the melting of 4 trillion tons of ice in the Antarctica alone.
• The meltd ice from the Antarctica in turn leads to the increase in water levels of Water bodies, which is the main cause of floods. This causes more damages to properties.
• Global warming leads to the unprecedented changes in weather, like off season rainfall.

The way forward is to reduce as much emissions as we can and the best ways of doing it includes the following;
Cutting down on carbon emisions worldwide, though this is being done by most countries, the bad thing is we are not doing it fast enough.
Statistics indicate that if we want to avoid increase in climate disasters, we have to cut down carbon emissions by 40 percent before 2030.
This will be possible if we do the following;
Use alternative to fossil fuels, for mass production.

• Transist from use of electricity gotten from burning fossil fuel to using renewable and emission free sources such as Wind, and Solar energy.
• To promote the use of electric cars, rather than fuel consuming cars.
• Planting more trees and practicing afforestation. This will increase the use of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by the trees.
