Should money or love lead? In today's world, it seems money makes friendship, not endearing qualities or love. Belonging in society is determined by the amount of money in one's Bank account or his net worth.
In this part of the world, there is a saying; "If you don't have money, hide your face, or if you are not rich, hide your face". This implies the poor don't even have the right to life, the right to necessities of life, and the right to belong in society.
There are instances where justice is perverted because the case is between the rich and the poor; they judge in favor of the rich.
I have an experience of a medical doctor who fell in love with the daughter of a politician, and she said she loved him too. It was time for him to meet her parents, and when he got there, the father of the lady asked him, 'What do you do for a living?' and he replied; I am a medical doctor, sir. But do you know what he asked him next?, Who is your Daddy? The doctor's Dad was a nobody in society because he wasn't rich, and because of this, his marriage proposal was declined.
Some family members who eventually became rich would sideline other members who were yet to be rich. Some can't take the discrimination, they want to be rich by all means. In this part of the world, they are involved in dishonest practices such as fraud just to become rich and belong in society. What an adverse effect the idea of 'money lead' society can have!
The big question is; Should money or love lead? Love shapes our society to a favorable one, the one in which everyone is accommodated, whether rich or poor. A love-led society is peaceful because every inhabitant takes the interest of orders first to heart.
Friendship should be made based on love and endearing qualities. When love leads, we will have a society in which the needy are carried along, and help will be extended to them. We will have a society in which everyone has a sense of belonging. Though money is important, love is the key to a better society.
Love should lead our society, not money. Let's open our arms and welcome all in love.
