RE: Contest | 25-Word-Comment - Monkey Business | Curators - 6 Steem

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFElast month

Mengundang @zul01, @syidah01 @rissi

What you say is true. A good memory is needed if it comes to being a curator.

A curator should remember if he read a post before and where. Also should s/he be able to recognize a change in writing style or the use of words and check the account if his/her instinct tells something is foul.

The more you read the easier it gets to recognize but also remember good and bad writers.

With your comment you hit the nail on its head if it comes to 01 and 02 and how they upvote. We may expect they read enough to know who to upvote and who not and with that the question arises: how can someone who hardly reads be a good curator?

I've always said that the best foundation for a curator is being a moderator first.
If your admin has trained you to be a good moderator, you will be the best curator.
I have curators that completed my moderator guidelines, and you can go look at them. They are doing a fantastic job with curating.

I did not apply to be a curator for the month of August, but every week I have curators running to me to help them or to give them advice.

We all swim in the wide ocean, and as we swim, we grow. (•ิ‿•ิ)

I agree with you that training is needed I also keep eondering what is checked. I noticed many different methods of moderating. 🤔

Also the questiom is how strict does a curator wants to be.

Umh.. maybe that is what we need, a training community and every 3 months you start with new moderators.
It might be worth looking into.

Absolutely, you’ve touched on some excellent points.
If someone usually doesn’t read much, it raises valid concerns about their ability to curate effectively.
Besides reading, it’s crucial to have a good understanding of the platform’s workings and some experience, which is always helpful.
Being a curator is demanding; it’s necessary to identify suspicious styles in posts and also the use of images.
Fortunately, there are tools that detect the use of AI and the originality of posts, as well as tracing the origin of images.
Of course, it would be ideal if all Steemians were honest and used only their own abilities without copying and pasting from other posts, but I understand that this is impossible..

I asked a few who wanted me in their team:
Show me the tools you use to check om plagiarism and AI written text... I thought it would be a good idea to use the same.
It became awkwardly silent... I am still waiting 😐

I understand that checking posts before voting them takes a lot of time.
But apart from known users with a high reputation who follow all the rules and clubs, most users need to be checked for safety.
To avoid rewarding users who do not deserve it.
But with the help of all the online tools to detect plagiarism and the use of A.I.'s such as duplicecker, neuralwriter, etc. the mistakes are fewer and fewer.
Too bad, though, that there are careless curators.

I see posts I know they are not written by the author. The (free) tools cannot find anything odd. Still rewarding those posts?

I can speak for myself. I make use of some tools and if they confirm to me that the post is not made by I.A. and is not plagiarism or an image is not stolen, I vote for it. More than that I cannot do.

You know not all the tools show the same, not what is published in books and if a few mistakes are made the tools are not able to recognize AI? Also too few words or too many can be a problem.

I wonder: how about instinct and check what the author in average writes? It's a bit odd if all conyent is badly written with one exception the new entries of poetry. Great grammar, markdowns 👍
It makes me think.

🍀♥️

When I read a post, I first check the author, to see whether or not he or she is part of any community, then the wallet to check that the user is not in power down, then I take a look at the type of post he or she writes.
And I get an idea of the type of author. It's clear that if he/she writes badly, without attention to grammar and formatting, when I find a perfect post I hardly need to verify it with online tools.

The verification tools are only a support, I first analyse the author's texts and if I've doubts I use the tools.

But it is clear that some mistakes can slip through. One always hopes in the good faith of the user, but there are many cunning users.
