Pig rearing in my place is almost done by each of the household. Because most tribes in Nasarawa State, demand for it during the payment of their daughter’s dowry. Hence it is very expensive.

Pigs do not excrerte or urinate inside where they sleep. In situation were they are rear in a single room, they map out some portion of the room to sleep and another portion to urinate and excrerte.

When excreting or urinating, they bend down to avoid it robbing on their body. They don’t urinate or excrerte on their food or water.

Bigs are not allowed to move around in my place during farming season (April to November). If your pigs are found aside during these period, it is either killed or arrested for who ever come as the owner, is made to pay for damages done by the pigs. There are instances were owners will refuse to show up , if they perceive that the cost of paying for damages outway the cost of the pig.

During the said period, the pigs are locked inside their pig house and are fed there because my people use the undeveloped land in the community to farm.

I released my pigs on the first of December , after immunizing them against any out break of disease because I lost the ones of last year due to disease out break.

For the first one week, they refuse to come home for fear of locking them inside their house and even don’t want me to come close to them.

They started coming home in the second and third week of December but will stay at a distance , if I noticed them , I will go and serve their food, but will not come and eat until I leave the place and when they notice any movement , they will run out. I stopped showing concerned.

I woke up this morning and discovered that they are at the door shouting. I came out brought their food and discovered that no more run , I can even touch them ,fear disappeared. My Pigs even know when I am angry with them.
