Good afternoon everyone, trust we are having a great weekend. My name is @rutthy, from Nigeria and this is my entry for the ongoing contest.

WHO IS A PARENT?

A parent is someone that takes care of a child be it a mother or a father. Parents are the medium through which their offsprings (their children) came into the world and as such they owe it as a responsibility to their children to take care of them properly. The same way our parents see it as their responsibility to take proper care of their children, we also owe them the responsibility of making them happy too so that they can in turn have the urge to do more for us their children. These parents as we all know may not be get to some point in their life when they also need to be shown some love. The manner in which we show our parents live as children i have grouped into three main categories according to the stage of life which be belong namely;

• Young Stage (Category)
• Teenage Stage (Category)
• Adult Stage(Category)

I will like to talk on the adult stage or category because that is the stage i belong to at the moment. I am an accountant by profession in Nigeria and i work with a car hire company and these are the various ways i feel i can and have always employed to make my parents happy.

BY CELEBRATING THEM AND REMEMBERING THEIR IMPORTANT DAYS LIKE MOTHER'S DAY, FATHER'S DAY AND THEIR BIRTHDAYS.

This means that we need to remember all these important days to them because to you, it may mean nothing, but to them, it means a lot, it means they are cherished, loved and remembered. When you neglect this aspect, when they see other children doing so for their parents, they tend to feel bad and dejected and left alone. For example, during mothers day or father's day, you take out time to call and remind them of all good memories and times you have shared together and also promise them of better days ahead, that alone can make them live longer and also he happier.

BE CO-OPERATIVE AND RESPONSIBLE

This implies that you have to be cooperating with them in all they do. You also have to be responsible by looking for what to do like jobs you can so to take care of them too. If you have younger ones, you can help out in one way or the other in their education. You can also offer advice and opinions that can help change their lives for better and make them enjoy in their old age.

BUY THEM GIFTS, TAKE CARE OF THEM WHEN THEY ARE SICK AND YOU CAN ALSO TAKE THEM OUT ONCE IN A WHILE.

You set out a particular amount to take care of your patents when they are sick because when they are aging, they become prone to sicknesses. When you do these little things, it shows you love and care for them really. You also buy them gifts like clothes, shoes and good stuffs to add to the ones they already have. You can also make out to take them out to see around the world to places you can afford, this will really help them psychologically and emotionally.

CREATE TIME TO HELP THEM IN THEIR BUSINESS

We normally help out my mum in her business whenever we visit. So as a child, you need to offer helping hands to your parents in the works they do to help alleviate them of some of the work load. You can as also go to the house and also help out with chores once in a while when you visit them, this will go a very Long way to make them very happy.

IF YOU ARE MARRIED, YOU CAN ALSO MAKE OUT TIME YO VISIT THEM WITH THEIR GRAND CHILDREN

As parents age, they feel the need to see their grand children. So when you make out time to take the kids to them, they will be very happy to see them and they will feel lived too.

Take their advice seriously.

Most times,what a parent sees sitting down, we the young ones are yet to see. So when you take their advises seriously, they will feel loved and appreciated and valued.

Finally, no body wishes you well than your parents, try as much as possible to treat them well and make them feel loved and happy by obeying them.
