CONTEST//COURAGE AND PERSISTENCE AS A TOOL TO GET TO THE TOP//18-05-2021

Good day steemians, good day my fellow contestants. I am so glad that this contest was pulled out the best during the previous contest, even though I contested but still big “shout-out” to @iykewatch for this contest. And as well thanks to @steemitwarrior and @tatjanastan for making the contest publication a success.

WHAT IS COURAGE ?

According to the ENGLISH DICTIONARY, Courage is “the quality of a confident character not to be afraid or intimidated easily but without being incautious or inconsiderate.” Meanwhile, to the best of my knowledge I can say that Courage is “the strong desire or boldness that encroaches a person to do something unusual.” A person can be willing to do something but without being courage he can’t be able to achieve that aim. Courage is as well “the ability to face and tackle your fears and limitations.”

Courage is not about rushing into the problem relentlessly but analyzing it to produce a suitable measure of handling that issue.
As a courageous person, you do feel fear, but you should be able to manage and overcome your fear so that it does not stop you from taking actions.

WHAT IS PERSISTENCE ?

According to the ENGLISH DICTIONARY, Persistence is “the property of being persistent.” I understand persistence to be “an instrument that drives the courage of a person in other to meet his goals.” A persistent person always has a positive vibe towards all that his is doing. He is always optimistic. This tool can spill you to the top if you are willing to keep being positively-minded about your goals.

When it comes to making out a good quality scenario, persistence is the most vital tool needed.

There are too many limitations to the success of a man. These limitations can be solved by summoning courage to push through those limitations. I give you example, I know a friend was frustrated due to the death of his father. And then his mother wasn’t doing too well in her business, so it kept him thinking on how to continue his education and all of that. A day came when I heard about a certain scholarship examination so I told him to enroll in the scholarship but he was really in doubt of himself because he never thought or believed that he can make the scholarship exams. He wasn’t as brilliant as the word “brilliant” sounds but I still gave him words of encouragement and advice on his academics. After talking to him, 2 days later he called me on phone and told me that he wanted to see me, and when we met, he said he would love to enroll for the scholarship exams. I was really shocked on seeing and hearing how courageous and determined he was, so I helped him register for it. Along the line he was also going to look for materials which he would read for the exams, but then whenever I go to see him in his hostel, he always complains to me saying “henry I’m tired of reading all this books and materials, I doubt if I would seat for this exams.” These were his words countless times, but I kept on encouraging him to the extent of buying some books for him, I also tried to be around him every time so that he can be persistent in his studies. On the day of the exam, I went to the exam center with him (I wasn’t eligible to take the exams because it was a 100Level based exams) and after writing the exams, he came out and said to me “henry, let’s leave the rest to God”. And that I understood so well, so we left. 2 weeks later he called me with a joyful and exciting tune and guess what the news was? He was among the persons that passed the scholarship exams. I was so happy for him, I felt we did it together because he took up the bold step in other to seat for the exams while I was there to always keep him persistent in his studies. And also all thanks to God for the final result.
Now at the his limitations then was the fact that his father died, he was doubtful to himself on succeeding in the exams, he had no much materials to study with but with the help of courage and persistence he was able to achieve his aim.

One of the necessary ways to be courageous is to understand what you’re afraid of and know how to tackle your fear, because fear has the power to stop you from moving forward, taking risks, etc. However, being courageous allows you to take chances, pursue your dreams, and also learn new ideas.

As a person, I have come across several situations that has kept me confused for so long but I tried my best to always tackle them so well. Let me share my experience.
During the covid-19 lock down my school was on strike so we were told to go back home. While I was at home, I decided to locate a shop where I would learn a skill. So I find out a place where I was opportune to learn how to repair electronics like fans, electrical cookers and boilers, washing machines, stabilizers, etc. So while I was learning at the shop, my colleagues always tell me not to repair anything on my own, I should also seek for assistance. So I did that for so long until a day when I was given a fan to repair, I decided to be independent, it was actually very risky for me then because I was doubting my ability to repair the fan and if I do would it work? So I charged myself up to repair that fan and after repairing the fan it worked perfectly well. I really felt that I tried my best to be optimistic in been courageous to do the work. When my boss saw the work he congratulated me and told me to keep it up because he knew it wasn’t easy for me as a learner.

Questions that brings up courage in a person

• Why am I afraid of this thing?
• What harm can this thing do to me?
• Why shouldn’t I do this thing?
• What can’t I do?

Aristotle called courage the first virtue, because it makes all of the other virtues possible. In addition to being the most important human virtue, it is the most important business virtue, as well.
Courage and Persistence are really helpful tools on achieving greatness. I can also remember when I joined this family(steemit) newly. I was always posting and posting at a point I stopped, but I had to encourage and self by being persistent in engaging in contest, doing my achievement task, doing some assignments as well and other things which has actually helped my financial status now.
So as a person who wants to succeed either in business or otherwise, you need to be courageous and as well be persistent in the things that would help you become successful. Moreover there must be obstacles but you have to try your best to solve them fearlessly.
