Depression - SAD

Before you say: Hey, this isn't Steemit related, I like to tell you that this community is a place to chat and exchange ideas, and thoughts. We like to reach out and it's also the follow-up of the contest: Monkey Business hosted by @wakeupkitty.pal in @steembetterlife. We people need more than the chance of being rewarded with Steem to feel better and to change our lives. Engagement, a chat makes a world of difference. The Comment Contest with the topic Depression just ended.

If it comes to engagement this is more than just dropping a comment. Engagement is taking the time to read, to comment, to reply and to connect. If you do that and you are able to read between the lines, are willing to share a bit you will learn to know your fellow Steemians and the door is opened to a friendship.

It isn't always easy to start a friendship since we meet online and and write when it fits us. At times we feel great, there are times we feel down, tired. agitated or are on the 7th cloud. We can see another but it's possible to connect but you have to do the first step, There's no way to find or reach out if you can't be found outside of Steemit.

@patudoh remarked in a post, after being gone for a while, that we are one family and should care about another, and ask how someone is doing. I asked her how I should do that if there is no way to find her but also if she would reach out to me. I don't think that will happen although my Telegram is known and more than once I gave my e-mail address to someone in need. You might call that a stupid thing to do but not once it has been used. The reason?
@patjewell, do you still remember my friend? She's been very active and helped many, but what struck me was that she announced in her last two contests that she would stop. Why did she decide to stop? I wonder why if the commenter wondered s/he not read what @patjewell wrote in her last SR report. Is this a step too far for many?
And what about @jaynie our beloved artist and the one who put so many in the picture with @theluvbug and @steem

Two weeks ago we talked about the "season", last week it was "depression" and one of the depressions is SAD a seasonal one popping up if daylight (sun) is drastically reduced. If you suffer from it you most likely prefer to stay in bed, you eat cookies (bad snacking only), feel tired and the season (Fall, Winter, Christmas) or whatever is celebrated is no fun. Vitamine D3 can help, many have a huge lack of it and the older you get the worse (D3 is made by the body/skin and if you cover it or use sunscreens there's no way to get enough - eating liver helps a bit).
The darker the skin the more D3 you need. Used to live (or born) in a sunny place the cold, foggy winters are good for depression. If I understood a doctor right (who studied SAD) the pupils of those suffering from it look different.
A solution might be a daylight lamp and waking up with a lamp (most sold are not good enough but it can help). It's better than meds.
If you know yourself you will feel when it starts and if so it's the moment to act.

I can't find the daylight lamp for light therapy back at Amazon - no happy lights

Also interesting but a bit strange is that the lamp doesn't come from above (they are for sale) and like the former Happy Light investor stated it can harm the eyes (it does since most of the lights are flickering!).

Of course, sunlight early in the morning is the best but if you are depressed, or feel tired, getting out of bed is an immense task.

Will a lamp help or not? If you can't get out of bed a sunrise lamp might do the trick.

SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is one of the depressions one can suffer from. If a light therapy outside (if the sun shines at all) or inside doesn't help it might be good to see a doctor. The same counts for other depressions. Take that hand if someone reaches out to you or asks for help. Most problems can be solved, ways can be found, life can be made a bit lighter, easier.

To many the pressure of Steemit is too much. If this is the case with you, take a break and ask yourself if sacrificing your health is worth the "reward".
