Bireuen Fishermen Participate in Community Empowerment Education and Training Basic Safety Training for Motor Sailing Boats.

Hundreds of Bireuen fishermen, for five days starting, Monday, 24/6/2024, took part in Community Empowerment Education and Training (DPM Training), Basic Safety Training for Motor Sailing Boats (BST-KLM) and Certificate of Proficiency (SKK).

This activity took place in the IAI Almuslim Aceh Hall. The education and training opened by Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), H Ruslan M Daud, was carried out by the Malahayati Shipping Polytechnic in collaboration with KSOP Class IV Lhokseumawe.

The Head of KSOP Class IV Lhokseumawe, represented by Yusriadi, SSos, in his speech said that KSOP Lhokseumawe really supports community empowerment activities.

Apart from that, he explained, specifically SKK is still published by KSOP Lhokseumawe. He stated that the training activities were expected to be carried out every year. Because based on census data, there are almost 12 thousand fishermen in Bireuen and North Aceh alone.

"One of the commitments of the Minister of Transportation is to certify all fishermen in Indonesia," he said.

"The goal is to create zero incidents or zero incidents and no more accidents on ships," he said.

Participants are expected to learn well about how to use safety equipment and fire extinguishers.

"Don't waste learning activities starting from education, training and training because it is very important for fishermen," explained Yusriadi.

Director of the Malahayati Shipping Polytechnic, Capt Dedi Kurniadi, represented by the Head of Finance and General Affairs and Cooperation, Ikka Suharli, said that the training was attended by 612 participants who were fishermen in Bireuen.

Training participants will receive Basic Safety Training for Motor Ships (BST-KLM) 612 certificates, Certificate of Proficiency (SKK) 30 miles with deck 306 certificates, and SKK 30 miles engine 306 certificates, for a total of 1,224 certificates.

Member of Commission V DPR RI, H Ruslan M Daud, when opening the training, said that the activity was carried out thanks to the collaboration between Commission V DPR RI and the Ministry of Transportation.

"The costs incurred in the training are the people's costs through the APBN, so they are used as best as possible for the people, so that the participants are expected to take this maritime training seriously," he hoped.
