In the Garden: The Beauty of "Black Eyes Susans!"
As we move into the later parts of the summer, more and more things appear in our garden!
The latest flowers to spring into bloom are what's generally called "Black Eyed Susans."
In a way, they look a bit like miniature sunflowers.
However, the very dark center is a bit different because it is raised, almost like a small hat.
The centers have their own miniature stamens that rise, almost like a miniature stand of trees.
Here you can see the edge of the black center, under extreme magnification:
They are very pretty and add a lovely splash of color to the late summer garden!
Thanks for stopping by and having a look!
