we used 4 to 5 onions 4 tablespoons butter, cook on lowest heat for 2 hours or until onions caramelized. Once onions are brown but not burnt add half cup wine, half cup cognac and 2 quarts stock. we served ours with nutritional yeast. serve with assortment of cheeses with toast or croutons .
