Sarah, Tears That Fall Like Rain.

Good morning my people, I hope you are very well, today I want to share a work for my collection of (Melancholy); this is a drawing in which I focus on capturing a pretty woman with a sad and listless look as if she was going through a hugging sadness which is difficult to cope. I focused a lot on giving a different look to this illustration with quite dark tones mixed with vintage tones that I had been wanting to use in a drawing for some time, and I knew that they would be perfect for this illustration:

I started creating this work with the firm idea of building a pose in which you could see the concern of the character which I decided to call Sarah, I decided to create her as a young woman of about 25 years old approximately, with short shoulder length hair and with a cigarette in her hand. As I said before for this drawing I had the intention of using dark and vintage tones and that is why I started creating the skin a little dark and little by little with the help of new layers and effects I was lightening little by little to get a much more detailed skin.

The application of the basic lines of volume was not complicated at all, first I traced with the airbrush to establish the different sections of the face, arms and so on; little by little I worked better with flatter brushes to leave everything better defined and then I blurred to soften the volume so that it was as realistic as possible. Finishing with the skin I continued with the eyes of the character and in this case I decided to use quite dark gray tones and I was scaling towards brighter shades to give relief and realistic shape to the eyes, as well as the lips for which I used fuchsia tones.

For the clothing of this character I focused on creating something quite relaxed and casual, and that is why I decided to paint a kind of shirt or t-shirt quite loose like the ones used to be at home on rainy and cold days. The base for the shirt I started with a tangerine tone that I liked a lot as soon as I applied it, then with a rocky tip brush I applied texture to the shirt with some brush strokes with the intention of creating some scattered wrinkles on the sleeves and the lower part of the bust.

Continuing with the painting I continued with the hair and for it I used shades of gray almost close to black, with the help of the watercolor brush I could lay the bases of the hair with short strokes and to the sides of the shoulders; then with a more specific brush I was detailing little by little until I achieved a good relief of very natural strands of hair. After finishing with the hair I continued with the painting of the cigarette that Sarah carries in her hand, for this I first painted the cigarette with a medium gray and with a small brush with a rough tip like a cloud I was giving it shape and texture of wear; besides that with red and orange tones I was painting the flame of the lit cigarette.

Lastly, and so that my drawing would not look empty or boring, he decided to paint in the background a kind of scene like a dark room in which Sarah would find herself experiencing her sadness; additional to this add some old and worn texture along with some feathers in varying shades as part of the wall. Finally and as a complementary touch for my drawing I created 2 more layers, in one I painted a trail of smoke which emerges from the cigarette, and in the other layer I created some lines falling from the eyes to simulate tears of sadness; I was able to achieve this thanks to the layer effect (Shine) by slightly lowering the opacity.
