Hello wonderful steemians. I am super grateful to be alive today to witness the last week of
steemit season 3 engagement challenge.
This week's contest is very interesting. The topic which is 'the past machine' resonates on emotions.

A machine that can take you to your past to correct some of the mistakes made. Can that machine be invented already?
As humans, we are imperfect, hence making mistakes is almost inevitable. Some of this mistakes determine how our lives turned out to be at the moment. Even if we finally grew pass some mistakes, "had I known" will always flash through our mind at some point in life.

Having a past machine that can take us back to the past will be a very wonderful invention, if only it would be possible.
My article on the past machine will revolve around the following questions:

If you have an opportunity to go back to the past, where would you go?
What year would you travel to?
What would you change?

Where I would go if I get an opportunity to go back to my past.

[Memories]

They say opportunity comes but once. If given an opportunity, there are lots of things I would want to change about my life. There are some mistakes I made at a younger age, that could be avoided. If I can really get a second chance to make things right. I believe things would be totally different for me.

I would really love to use this time machine to go back to my secondary school days. When I wrote Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) precisely.

As every other child, I had dreams. One of my dreams was to become a professional Medical scientist or a Nurse. I really worked towards my dreams in secondary school. But, unfortunately, after writing UTME , I scored 179. My score was not a good score to get into the university to study medical Laboratory.
Instead of exercising a little patience for one year, to rewrite UTME again. I hurriedly accepted to study what seem like my dream course in the polytechnic.
I was in a rush then because all my mates were already getting admission into the university. I didn't want to be left behind.

My elder brother even adviced me to reject the Science Laboratory Technology Admission offered to me, but I refused because I wanted to enter the tertiary institution immediately after secondary School.

The year I would have traveled to

I would have gladly gone back to the year 2014. 2014 was the year I graduated from secondary school. That was the year I wrote my first utme.

2014 was the year I impatiently made a decision that I am so much regretting right now.
If only I had known that the Medical field does not recognize Science Laboratory Technology as Medical Laboratory Science. If only our lecturers told us that studying Science Laboratory Technology does not give you the license to practice as a professional Medical Laboratory Science.
Although, , we were thought everything about medical science in school but getting employed as a medical scientist is not easy.
I started regretting going for science Lab tech during my one year Industrial training. After I submitted various internship application in my locality, I constantly got a rejection mail because those laboratories were only interested in people that studied medical Lab science not science lab tech.
Even as I have graduated now, getting employed in a Government owned Medical Laboratory is almost impossible except you have good connection that can take you through.

What I would have done

If I can make use of the past machine right now i will gladly change my course of study to my dream course. I wouldn't mind how long it will take before I can finally get want I want. I would to have studied harder, and prayed fervently till my dreams come true.

I would have waited at home for one year, so I can rewrite the UTME instead of rushing to accept a course I was not comfortable with.

I would have studied harder before the exam, I would have pass the cutoff mark for the course I wanted to study. I would not have rushed because I feel my classmates were getting ahead.

Conclusion

This is the most important mistake I feel I would like to correct in my life using the past machine. I believe once this is done, every other thing will fall in place.
I want to specially invite @precious123 @okere-precious @sammylove and @luchyl to participate in this contest.

@chiomavia I almost shed tears while reading this, memories and memories of the past came flashing back. Gosh! there are so many mistakes we made in the past that we wish every day could be changed and inventing a time machine would just be the perfect solution for it. Thanks for sharing this emotional experience with us.

It is incredible what a decision does, we always have to try harder for what we want, sometimes there are things that we make a very hasty decision, we do not achieve our goals that we longed for so much, thinking that what we choose is acceptable in our life, but what The important thing is to keep moving forward until we achieve our dreams.

Greetings and a thousand blessings 🤗.

Sometimes we make mistakes through our decisions, accepting a course you weren't comfortable with was a mistake but your ability to graduate was awesome....

We're bound to make mistakes
