Just What Is This?!............. NW Cascade Wanderings

When I got up this morning and went to make coffee, I noticed the car sort of looked like it had frost on it at a glance. The more I looked, the more my curiosity got the better of me and I went outside. It had the appearance of a fine white-ish ash. What’s more, when I put my finger on it, it was like it didn’t want to come off! I took a shot of the doorframe on the driver’s side. It’s black in color……

…..it wasn’t black any longer! Hmmmm……not sure what to think, so I asked Grok AI if there was something going on around Everson. It came back with no explanation as there seemed to be nothing. Hmmmmm………🧐

We were ready to go to Lynden to get the free coffee from a local coffeehouse, Woods Coffee. Driving North Pass, it became apparent that there was a ton of particulate matter in the air! Hmmmm……🧐 Coming down the South Pass and heading towards Everson, it also became apparent that this phenomenon was just the mountain area around Sumas Mountain! Hmmmm….🤨 The only thing around is Mt. Baker, a volcano considered active but not erupting. Once away from the area and into the valley, there appeared to be nothing going on with it. Grok had reported as much, but I have to wonder…….

For now, the mystery remains. I will be heading to the car wash soon to get rid of whatever it is, but figured I’d wait a day or so in case there’s more to come. Hmm……🤔

Before getting the coffee, we stopped again at Lynden City Park to walk the trail there. The other day, we had the park to ourselves. Not so today! There were a ton of folks everywhere!

You can tell that spring is near as the amount of duck couples we found along the stream on our hike was something to see. I’ll do the pics tomorrow, but here’s a little teaser.

There are several bridges to cross.

With bubbling streams below.

The blue skies and whispy clouds were amazing!

The middle school is on ‘view’ property, meaning a clear view of Mt. Baker, the volcano considered active

Not a problem so long as she never erupts!

A look-see down an old stump.

After the park, we enjoyed our coffee and then went to Bellingham to do the Walmart shopping. Tomorrow after church, we will go to Costco to return the old batteries for a refund on the cores and to do the shopping there that’s needed. We might hit that car wash as well-who knows!

That’s it for today. Take care and have a blessed Sunday! Enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌎🙏

NLT Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
