It Came After All!............. NW Cascade Wanderings

It came-finally! The snow they had been talking about finally showed up overnight, albeit less than they said. We probably got around 5-6” but with the wind blowing, that meant lots of drifts!

For the past several weeks, our highs had hovered in the mid forties and now, we’ve been plunged into the upper teens (Fahrenheit). Talk about a rude awakening, and nobody is prepared for that type of drop. Now add 30-50 MPH winds to that and as you might have guessed-it’s pretty darned cold!🥶

I spent my day indoors feeding the wood stove and riding the stationary bike. Some laundry and cooking too. I discovered that the clinic never opened today as I get a notification whenever the alarm is turned off as well as a video recording of who is there at the time. No one disarmed the system today. Interestingly, no one called me to go work either. The only reason I can think is my boss came to a neighbor’s house previously to get a kitten and now knows the lay of the land here. It can be pretty dicey when it snows, especially given the county maintenance is pretty much zip for us.

My daughter in law and my older son live about 40 minutes west of where we are. It’s pretty flat there and the wind just howls! She has a heater for her hummingbird feeder and as you can see in the picture, she had a hummer stop by.

She has ducks and even with the cold and wind, they seem very content.

Never mind she was about frozen from caring for them, lol! 🥶

Our kitties are both curled up by the wood stove-they know where to go when it’s cold! 😻

That’s gonna be it for today. My ladies Bible study has been canceled for tomorrow so I suspect I’ll keep close to the wood stove myself!
