The animals I like most are lions. Obviously you can't touch a lion and maybe that's why I love cats too. However, I really like watching documentaries with lions, understanding how they live in prides. I especially really like lionesses who organize group family life with their cubs.

Lions are often seen in documentaries hunting antelopes, gazelles and even baby bison. They are predators and ferocious animals. Not everyone knows that when a lioness has 4 or 5 cubs, often only one survives. In fact it is very difficult for them to find enough food to satisfy everyone.

Instead, when there is a herd of gazelles, about one in 20 dies from a predator attack, which means that lions, like many other predators, have a much lower survival expectancy.

But lions and lionesses can also be very affectionate and are very jealous of their cubs. Lions have few rivals, but hyenas can attack cubs when they are alone and defenseless, making it difficult for mothers to hunt when the cubs are small. If you have ever seen a lioness defend their cubs you know what I'm talking about! Sometimes even very hungry lions or those trying to mate with females can attack the cubs, and the lioness must defend them even from her own species.
What a hard life!
