INTRODUCTION
Greetings to you all steemians of the SteemFoods community. Hope you guys are good. In continuation of the Steemit Engagement Challenge, I would like to make my entry in the contest under this community titled Who is your favorite Chef in you family? Continue reading as I disclose to you my favorite Chef in my family and his qualities as a chef.
I AM MY FAVORITE CHEF
Cooking was built in me by my Mom from my teenage age at the time I was in primary school but got more developed in college. At that time, I was in college with about four of my siblings. Two of them shared house chores with me while the others we respected and left to do almost nothing. My brother, sister and I rotated the duties of fetching water, watching the ditches and cooking the meals for the family to eat.
I and my siblings were not just thrown to the kitchen works like that but in a systematic way. From giving assistance in the kitchen, we were left to doing less expensive meals. Before long, we were all able to prepare simple foods then later graduated to complex ones. This lessened the stress my Mom went through preparing meals for the family after a tired day at work.
I fully developed my cooking skills when I left for the university. I prepared the best meals which my roommate then always appreciated. Visitors who tasted my food jokingly tell me to go open a restaurant. We laugh about it, enjoyed the meals and left. I was able to organize myself and cook a delicious meal all the time. Most times I improvised when the ingredients are not complete and the meals still came out yummy.
After graduation, I stayed at home for few months. During this period, I had to take over the Kitchen when my Mom and sisters were away. Everyone appreciated my cooking and when it comes to some meals, they always wanted I prepared it. Some of those days, all my female siblings and cousins would be at home and I prepared what the family ate.
In my days of service, (National Youth Service Corps) the kitchen still welcomed me as I started to appear in the kitchen right from the Camp when it was the turn of my platoon to prepare food for the entire camp (numbering close to 3000). After I left camp to my place of primary assistant, I was made the assistant chef of the house I stayed. This was a house where corp members stayed. We had a number which varied between 30 and 50, depending on the period. I assisted a lady for about three months. She misbehaved and was suspended. I took over as the main chef of the house and organized the kitchen for about five months. It was really an experience I will never forget. This helped me fully developed cooking skills to the fullest.
- I am my favorites chef because I always prepare meals that not only taste good to myself but also to everyone that tastes it.
- Another reason I consider myself my favorite chef is the level organization and comportment I display in my cooking. I am a neat cook. I always make sure all the items I use in cooking are neat and used appropriately.
- Also I am not a selective person when it comes to food. I like tasting and eating new delicacies. These has helped me learn most of these new delicacies.

Pictures of my favorites recipe and how it was Prepared
The above picture is a picture of my favorite recipe. That recipe is called Rice and Beans combination or concoction in Nigeria. This is the meal I used to bag MSc in cooking ๐. I cook it that well. This is the meal I was always called upon to cook cook when I still lived with my family.
The recipe called Rice and Beans combination/concoction can also be called rice and beans jollof. It sounds simple but I use a special method in its preparation to make it taste better than what every other person cooks.
Ingredients
First Procedure
Parboil the rice for five minutes, and parboil the beans for 15 minutes. This can be done in two different pots to make the cooking quick. This is done to make the beans a little softer than the rice before the proper cooking begins. Afterwards sieve off the water from both food differently.
Second and Final Procedure
I placed the pot on the cooking gas after it has been lightened up. Allow the pot to dry and add the quantity of groundnut oil enough to cook the meal.
I added salt when the oil has gotten hot enough. I Immediately added the onions and allow to fry for few seconds.
I added the grounded fresh pepper and tomato and allow it to fry with the other ingredients.
I added Maggi and the other spices after a few minutes and tasted to see if the ingredients are in there right quantities.
I added water enough to cook the food till done. I tasted to see if salt and pepper were enough.
Finally, I added the beans and rice, one after the other.
I watched the food until the water got dried up then removed them from the fire.
Here I have my pot of delicious Rice and Beans combination/concoction which you can call rice and bean jollof
CONCLUSION
I do not dislike eating food in restaurants and eateries but I do not go there often because I prepare 90% of the food I eat.
One of the best things I have learnt in life so far is cooking. Cooking is a must thing to learn for everyone because food contributes to greater percentage of the health we can have. For me as a man, I think I have found something that will help me show love to my future wife if acts of service is one of her love languages.
When the Bible said he who will not work, he shouldn't eat. I think cooking is one area we can apply it. So people who do not like the kitchen because of cooking can as well dislike food. But do we have anyone that dislike food? ๐
NO! Everyone wants to eat but not everyone wants to be involved in the kitchen.
I want to invite my friend @merci26, @whiteestallion and @whiteestallion to show us the skills they've got in kitchen by being a part of this contest.
