This is me and the Boh Rom-rom Purple when I made it at home.

Hi friends, in the month of Ramadan or in this fasting month, Muslims all over the world will love this one food. Especially in my country, Aceh, Indonesia. Muslims like to make food or food during the fasting month for breaking the fast menu (holding back hunger) at their respective homes.

Well, today I will show you a recipe from the iftar menu which in our country is called by the name: Boh Rom-rom.

The recipe for Boh Rom-rom is simple, here are the ingredients needed to make Boh Rom-rom Purple.


The basic ingredient is purple cassava fruit. Take a little purple sweet potato or adjust it according to your needs.

In the picture above is a purple sweet potato which I have peeled off the skin, and I put it in the pot and I put water to boil on the stove. I peeled this purple sweet potato, cut it into small pieces so that after boiling it would be easy to knead (crush) into a dough.


So, now we prepare the ingredients needed to make my family's favorite cake. This Boh Rom-rom is a typical cake from my area, Aceh. Let's take a look at the ingredients needed to make my homemade Purple Sweet Potato Boh Rom.

Ingredients:

  • 1 grated coconut.
  • 500 grams of glutinous rice flour Palm sugar finely sliced ​​(use sparingly).
  • 1 tablespoon salt.
  • Vanilla to taste.
  • Kneaded purple sweet potato as much as 500 grams.
  • Purple sweet potato cooking water to taste.

After the ingredients have been prepared, the next step is an easy way to make this Boh Rom-rom purple sweet potato cake.

Enter 500 grams of glutinous rice flour into the purple sweet potato mixture that has been prepared 500 grams, And add 1 tablespoon of salt. Then stir by hand until evenly distributed.

Mix the boiled purple sweet potato into the mixed flour and sweet potato mixture, then stir by hand until it is evenly distributed and becomes a purple cake dough.

This is purple sweet potato cake dough that has been stirred evenly and the dough is smooth and soft.

This purple sweet potato cake dough is shaped round and in the middle it is given palm sugar which has been finely sliced.


After the cake dough is rounded and there is palm sugar in it, the Boh Rom-rom is boiled again with boiling water. Usually when immersed in hot water, the Boh Rom-rom will initially sink to the bottom of the water, and when it is ripe it will appear to float to the surface of the hot water. Looks like the image below.

Boh Rom-rom that floated to the surface indicated it was ripe.

Now look at this, the ripe Boh Rom-rom is removed and wrapped in grated coconut that has been prepared. If you want the surface of the Boh Rom-rom to taste sweeter, then you can add sugar to the grated coconut to taste. And wrap the Boh Rom-rom until the grated coconut sticks to the purple cassava cake.
