Mussels with Cheesy Garlic

Hi Everyone. Today I am sharing to all the easy recipe of Baked Mussles with Garlic and Cheese on the top.

Mussels or Tahong in Tagalog are low-fat seasfoods that are good source of protein, iron and vitamin b12. Here in the Philippines, you will always see this seafoods in Filipino tables during holy week or summer season. You can cook mussels in many different ways such as fried mussels with egg, nilagang tahong (mussels in water and butter), baked and adobo mussels etc.

So, let’s move on the main ingredients of my recipe:

  1. Baked Tahong - 1 kilo
  2. Cloves of garlic cut into pieces - 3 pcs
  3. Cheese Quickmelt - 1 pc
  4. Butter - 1 whole

My younger sister Dez helped me clean the mussels. It is very important to clean it first in order to take away the smell, the dirty thing mix in this mussels. By cleaning it with running water, the mussels is now set for cooking.

Step 1 - Boil Mussels in a water until partly cook. Why do we need to boil? This is for the mussels to open it’s shell once cook so removing the one side of the shell becomes easy.

Step 2 - Wash the mussels with water then gently remove one side of the shell.

Step 3 - Put the mussels in a plate. The arrangement or placing of the mussels is up to you. But in this one, I prefer to design it on circular placing.

Step 4 - Mix the Butter and Garlic, Gently coat it on top of the mussels, for this one I used spoon.

Step 5 - Grate Cheese on top of the Mussels with garlic and butter. Sprinkle the cheese on top of it.

Step 6 - Since the Mussels are partially cooked, I used microwave oven to cook this via medium high range.

Step 7 - Ready to serve
