Rose cookies
Whenever you need something sweet, you can check this fast recipe and prepare something home made. Not only it will be much healthier than the cookies from the shop but also it will cost you less money and you will make a big favor for the environment, not producing another trash from the cookie packages.
The recipe is very simple and it can be made with rose water only or, preferably, with rose flakes too. Rose water will not bring much taste but will improve your cookies by adding the amazing smell to it. There is nothing more home-like, nothing more comforting, than freshly made hot Rose cookies on the table. Danish people have special word for it, it's 'hygge' - it means comfort, peace, coziness, feeling inner balance, safety and happiness. As it all are feelings which I have every time I eat that meal, I called the cookies 'hygge', even though the food's origin is rather Arabic than Danish.
Ingredients:
🌹300g of flour
🌹 1 big egg or 2 small
🌹 140g of butter
🌹 6 spoons of castor sugar
🌹5 spoons of rose water
🌹 Optional rose flakes
Preparing
1️⃣ Smash with the fork the butter with sugar. Perfectly if you have castor sugar but you can use instead any other sweetener you want
2️⃣ Separate yolk from the egg and add the yolk to the butter with sugar. Use two smaller eggs or one XXL.
3️⃣ Add rose water. If you want, you can also add flower's flakes to make the cookies taste more like the rose and keep more aroma in. It's not obligatory though.
4️⃣ Mix everything well, creating one big piece of dough.
5️⃣ If the dough is too dry you can add one more egg and a bit of rose water. If it's too moist, add a bit of flour but watch out to not overuse this ingredient.
6️⃣ After making the dough, leave it covered with the cloth for at least 20 minutes
7️⃣ Each time remove from the dough a small piece, roll it and flat to make a shape cookie-like. Try to not make your cookies too big because it could be burned from outside and raw inside. Smaller cookies will work better. Put it in the oven in 180°C for approx 8 minutes.
Your cookies are ready. Eat it in 3-4 days.
Bon appetite!
