Pizza ..........

The name alone stirres appetite. Almost everyone love it. The first time I was opportuned to eat pizza was when a Friend of mine visited from the USA. He gave us a treat by taking is to a mall where we could buy it. The kids and everyone were very happy and excited about it.

To me then, it was as if it can never be possible to prepare pizza at home. I never thought of preparing one or even trying it out. Not until just about 3 weeks ago when my son downloaded a video and we watched and I told myself that it is very simple to prepare but how to source the ingredients. Thankfully, I went in search of it and succeeded. Since then, I have been trying it out at home. Am not yet an expert but the experience is worth the efforts.

Also, considering how expensive it is in the mall, I mean to get a big pizza is 5000 naira which is equivalent of 33.33 steem and one is not usually enough for my family. You can imagine buying 2 for 66.66 steem. But preparing it at home saves a lot of cash for us and the experience is fulfilling.

Preparation of the Nigerian pizza dough

The ingredients

Picsart_22-05-18_13-52-42-082.jpg

Step 1: I measured 3/4 cup of luck warm water in a bowel, added 2 tablespoons of sugar to it and then 1 teaspoon of yeast.

Step 2: I stirred continuously to incorporate all into the luck warm water. I then set it aside.

Step 3: I sieved 2 levelled cups of flour into another bowel, I added 1 teaspoon of salt to it, then 2 tablespoons of vagetable oilIMG_20220518_065310_935.jpg
Step 4: I finally turned the mixture of sugar and yeast to the flour and stirred continuously to make sure that everything is incorporated completely to form a dough.IMG_20220518_070056_160.jpg
Step 5: I kneaded the dough for 10 to 15 minutes and covered it and allowed it to rest for 2 hours. I added vagetable oil around the dough pan before covering it.IMG_20220518_091946_255.jpg
Step 6: I finally kneaded the dough again for just 5 minutes and then spread it in my oiled pizza pan.IMG_20220518_092300_617.jpg

Preparation of the toppings

IMG_20220518_084647_071.jpg

Toppings for pizza has so many varieties depending on what you want. I chose to create mine and this is my favorite.

IMG_20220518_085501_114.jpgStep 1: I diced and washed my children breast. I then added seasoning cube, just very little, a little of chicken powder, salt to taste, dry pepper to taste and stirred. I then placed a source pan on heat, added a tablespoon of vagetable oil, added onion and then fried the chicken. I stirred continuously until it is ready just in about 10 minutes.
IMG_20220518_091352_753.jpgSteps 2: I washed and diced all the vagies, fresh peppers, tomatoes, carrot, onions and got them ready
IMG_20220518_092831_154.jpgStep 3: I gratted my cheese to the quantity I needed and set aside
Screenshot_20220518-093313.jpgStep 4: I then added the toppings one after the other on the spread pizza dough. I made sure that I didn't overwhelm the dough with excess toppings.
IMG_20220518_093446_391.jpgStep 5: I already preheated my oven, then I placed the pizza inside it for 15 minutes. But I was checking it every 5 minutes to make sure it will not burn.

Guess what? At this juncture, my Nigerian chicken pizza is ready

Challenges

Cheese is usually the most difficult ingredient to source in my locality. When it is seen, then it is costly. But I am glad that Dechoice mall is able to cut the cheese to the quantity that I could afford.

Thanks to you all for reading through. Hope you have learned how to prepare Nigerian chicken pizza. It is simply fantastic! Easy to prepare.
