Chicken Afritada Recipe - Steemfoods
Hi guys! It's been awhile since my last post here. Last recipe I made is Korean Bibimbap so for todays blog, I will be doing a famous Filipino dish. Chicken afritada can be typically seen in events like birthdays and such. So being new in the kitchen, I always thought that its difficult to cook one. I searched for it and have discovered that I was wrong.
Chicken Afritada
Ingredients;
Tomato Sauce
Red bell pepper
Potato
Carrots
Salt and pepper
Green peas
Onion and garlic
Cooking oil
Green chili pepper
Procedure;
First, clean the chicken and chop it based on your preference and for me, I liked it a bit small so the flavor will get inside the meat. Also ready the other ingredients by cutting all the other vegetables. The smaller the cut, the faster it'll be tender.
In a pan, pre-heat a bit of oil and saute first the potato, carrots, green peas and bell pepper. Wait until it turned brown then set aside.
When you're done with the vegetables, let's start with the chicken. In the same pan, add a bit oil the put the garlic and onion. When it turned brown, put the chicken on. Let it sit for a minute and wait until its slightly cooked and let the natural chicken oil release.
After a minute, put the tomato sauce followed by half glass of water. Be careful with the tomato sauce so it'll not get too much sour. For me, I only used the smallest sachet pack of it.
Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. I also added the green chili pepper for a bit of kick and it just turned perfect. Cover the pan and let it simmer for at least 5 minutes.
Lastly, add all the vegetables and check the taste depending on your preference. It is perfect if you made your veggies crispy on the first fry. It fits great in a bit spicy sauce.
For at least 2 minutes, Its ready to serve! You may serve it on lunch or dinner. Just partner it with rice and voila! I was sooo satisfied and full with this recipe. Easy and affordable so you must try it!
