I have had a hectic day. It started out with coffee, as usual, strong and black with no sugar. It was 6 a.m.
At 7 a.m., my husband woke up and I made more coffee, but this time I added milk and sugar to mine. I got a phone call and had to leave quickly (family emergency). Instead of enjoying my coffee with milk while making breakfast as planned, I had to drink it really quickly.
After returning from the doctor's office and before going to buy some medicine, we ate Susy wafers and more coffee, black.
It was after 1:00 in the afternoon when we were able to have breakfast. I made arepas and filled them with cheese and leftover ground beef I had in the fridge. They were good, but when you are preoccupied, nothing really tastes that good. (My father, brother and brother-in-law felt sick, but really, really bad. For the next two days we were afraid it was covid19 or malaria that was seriously affecting them, but it was just a terrible flu.)
We left again and were back home by 4 p.m. I made hot cocoa and cut a thick slice of the ham bread I had been given the day before for my husband. I only had my cocoa.
I suffer when I don't eat as I am used to. I needed real food, fresh salad. So I got to work on it immediately. I made some mayonnaise with garlic (for dressing), I fried fish and slices of ripe plantain and made some salad.
For our salad, I served grated carrot, and sliced tomato and red onion. I diced the boiled potatoes and served them separately, so everyone could use as much of the vegetables as they wanted. My husband really likes onion in his salad; he puts a lot more on it than I find enjoyable.
We ate to our hearts' content, and better after knowing everybody was feeling better as they had begun taking their medicines.
And these were the highlights of my food-day. As always, I hope you're all healthy and at peace.
