SteemFoods Discord & Telegram Moderator 1st Weekly Report (Week Sep.28-Oct.04) | English/Español
Greetings, my fellow #SteemFoods members and subscribers, @SteemitFoods & @Alikoc07._
Here is a brief introduction I have prepared in my role as SteemFoods Discord and Telegram Moderator, followed by my 1st Weekly Report, from Monday, September 27/2021 thropugh Monday, October 04/2021.
On August 16, 2021 I agreed to moderate the SteemFoods Discord server and Telegram Group for "Venezuela and Latin America".
It is a pleasure for me to play this role in this Community, for not only I like to learn from a new experience, but by acting as a moderator, I have been able to interact with a variety of people from other cultures and learn from them, mainly regarding their gastronomy and eating habits.
I focus on understanding each case of those who contact me either through public or private channels, so that they we can solfe the problems they face regarding the Community and the activities it entails.
Without further ado, I am ready to make my first report. In doing so, I will group together what is pertinent to the main activities that I have carried out during the last week, and some since August 16, 2021 (when I actually started out).
My duties within #SteemFoods:
So far, I have been able to list 7 functions which I fulfil as a Discord & Telegram Moderator for #SteemFoods. This is what I do in my available time:
1- When the case requires it, I moderate the interactions within the different channels of the SteemFoods Server.
2- I answer questions from SteemFoods subscribers and other Steemit users, in both cases from any country, who share in the SteemFoods Discord Server.
3- When the case requires it, I moderate interactions within the Telegram Group.
4- I answer questions from Latin American SteemFoods subscribers in the SteemFoods Telegram Group.
5- I Make observations to active #SteemFoods subscribers (those who publish their posts within this Community) about the rules of publication, when needed.
6- I invite active subscribers to join our Discord Server and Telegram Group, in accordance to each case.
7- I keep open communication with the Administration to inform him about the details of relevant events during my moderation and about our users’ concerns.
I must say that there are many diligent users who make my task much easier and enjoyable thanks to their participation and help; e.g. when a user kindly answers a question or provides support in some way to another user in need.
As part of my integral profile, besides making presence and interacting in the Discord Server and in the Telegram Group (for Venezuela and Latin America) of SteemFoods, both through public and private channels, I try to post daily within the Community, to participate in contests and to socialize through comments on posts.
Basically, I make the Administration's job easier, by solving problems within my reach and as far as my knowledge allows me to. (Not to forget, I am just another user on Steemit and I try to flow with the regular dynamics of the platform: create content, post, upvote, comment, reply, etc.)
Duties Fulfilled
1- It has happened that some users post messages in the wrong channel. When it is the case, I make the observation and delete the message (if needed), so that the content of the interactions does not look interrupted.
2- Verify users in SteemFoods according to the Moderators by Region; however, sometimes these users post their selfies for verification in the corresponding channel of the Discord Server. When this happens, I help out in the process I check each profile, verify that they have posted their selfie in the comments of the official biweekly @steemitfoods User Verification System post, and finally, confirm that their Achievement 1 is verified when necessary. As of August 16, 2021, I have assisted in the verification of 5 users:

- @faisalamin (Pakistan)
- @julietpunay17 (Philippines)
- @reycel (Philippines)
- @mahishines (Pakistan)
Sometimes I have helped some users to get verified as I post guidelines on the comments sections of their posts (such is the case of @karelis01, which you can see further on in this post.
3- It happens sometimes that the language barrier affects the communication between the Administration and the participants. When this happens, I mediate, either with advance clarification, a more appropriate translation of messages, or simply by directly answering questions from participants. This, especially in the Telegram group, as it is customary that users write in English on the Discord channels.
Every time there is a new activity, I try to summarize the most important aspects of the official post and I post them in Spanish on the Telegram Group and in English and Spanish on the General Channel of the Discord Server. This is useful especially for those who have easy access to Discord/Telegram and not so to Steemit's platform, which is heavier to load. E.g.

4- Up to the moment, I have attended 25 requests to solve some problem by private message (DM) on Discord. Most of them have been Pakistani or Venezuelan users; but there have also been Filipinos and Colombians.
In addition, I have attended 6 requests to solve some problem by private message in Telegram. All of them Venezuelan. I can summarize the topics discussed (concerning SteemFoods): curation, delegation, rules of a specific activity.
5- I have developed a series of templates to address a variety of cases that I have encountered in my visits to the profiles of users who post within the Community. Depending on each individual case, I adapt the content of these messages.

I get this a lot, privately, about Markdown syntax. Although it is not within my duties, I am happy to help those users who have made the task of studying the subject but have doubts whatsoever. If it is within my possibilities, I’m glad to guide them.
6- So far, I have made more than 50 invitations for users from all regions to join the Discord server and for Latin American users to join the Telegram Group. Once they join in, if I can't identify their name, I kindly ask them to identify themselves and I check their profiles, just to check if there is any irregular situation that needs to be solved.
7- Finally, throughout these 8 weeks, since I started moderating, I have contacted @alikoc07 for the following issues, mainly:
- My willingness to keep the Telegram Group that was already active, formerly under @Rypo01's administration (August 17/21).
- Relevance of the #sfcharity50pc hashtag (August 26/21).
- Project proposals from certain users (August 30/21).
- Concerns regarding the Food Diary Game (September 2/21)
- My willingness to provide feedback to users on the community posting rules (September 3/21)
- Users with special requirements regarding @sf/charity
- Users violating community participation rules by posting from two profiles (September 9/21)
- Users having trouble verifying themselves due to religious/cultural reasons (Sep 10/21)
- Benefits from @sf/charity donation (Sep 13/21)
- Making comments on Food Diary Game posts (Sep 19/21)
- Unintentional plagiarism and other plagiarism-related issues within SteemFoods/Steemit (Sept. 26/21)
- Setting the date of my first weekly report (September 26/21)
- Other topics: curation, contest rules, Food Diary Game rules; miscellaneous user concerns, e.g. regarding the new SP Development System program.
Community Interaction, Votes and Comments

A continuación, presento una breve introducción en mi rol de Moderadora de Discord y Telegram de SteemFoods, seguido de primer reporte, para hoy lunes, 04 de octubre de 2021.
El 16 de Agosto de 2021 acordé con @alokoc07 moderar el servidor de Discord de SteemFoods y el Grupo de Telegram para “Venezuela y Latinoamérica”.
Es un placer para mí desempeñar este rol en esta Comunidad, ya que no solo me gusta aprender de una experiencia nueva, sino que al actuar como moderadora, he podido tratar con una variedad de personas de otras culturas y aprender de ellos, principalmente en cuanto a su gastronomía y hábitos alimenticios.
Me enfoco en comprender cada caso de aquellos que me contactan ya sea por los canales públicos o privados, para que resuelvan las complicaciones que se les presentan respecto de la Comunidad y las actividades que ésta conlleva.
Sin más preámbulos, me dispongo a hacer mi primer reporte. En este informe agruparé lo pertinente a las actividades que he realizado desde el 28 de septiembre de 2021, hasta 04 de octubre de 2021, además incluyendo algunas desde el 16 de agosto de 2021 (que fue cuando comencé en mis funciones).
Mis funciones dentro de #SteemFoods:
Hasta ahora, pude enumerar 7 funciones. En mi tiempo disponible, me encargo de:
1- Cuando el caso lo amerite, moderar las interacciones dentro de los diferentes canales del Servidor de SteemFoods
2- Responder dudas de los suscriptores de SteemFoods y otros usuarios de Steemit, en ambos casos de cualquier país, que hacen vida en el Servidor de Discord de SteemFoods
3- Cuando el caso lo amerite, moderar las interacciones dentro del Grupo de Telegram
4- Responder dudas de los suscriptores de SteemFoods latinoamericanos en el Grupo de Telegram de SteemFoods
5- Hacer observaciones a los suscriptores activos de #SteemFoods (aquellos que realizan sus publicaciones dentro de esta Comunidad) sobre las reglas de publicación, cuando el caso lo amerite
6- Invitar a los suscriptores activos a unirse a nuestro Servidor de Discord y Grupo de Telegram, según convenga en cada caso
7- Mantener comunicación abierta con la Administración, para informar sobre los pormenores de los acontecimientos e informarle las inquietudes de los usuarios
Debo decir que hay muchos usuarios conscientes, que con su participación, hacen mi tarea mucho más sencilla y agradable; ej. cuando un usuario amablemente responde una pregunta o brinda apoyo de alguna manera a otro usuario que lo necesita.
Como parte de mi perfil integral, además de hacer presencia e interactuar en el Servidor de Discord y en el Grupo de Telegram (para Venezuela y Latinoamérica) de SteemFoods, tanto por los canales compartidos como por mensajes privados, trato de publicar a diario dentro de la Comunidad, de participar en los concursos y de socializar a través de comentarios en las publicaciones.
Básicamente, le facilito el trabajo a la Administración, por medio de la resolución de problemas dentro de lo que está a mi alcance y hasta donde mis conocimientos lo permiten.
Funciones cumplidas
1- Ha sucedido que algún usuario coloca mensajes en el canal equivocado. Cuando lo amerita, le hago la observación y borro el mensaje, para que el contenido de las interacciones no se vea interrumpido.
2- Verificar a los usuarios en SteemFoods en función de los Moderadores por Zona; sin embargo, a veces estos usuarios cuelgan sus selfie para verificación en el canal correspondiente del Servidor de Discord. Cuando esto ocurre, ayudo a que el proceso fluya: Reviso cada perfil, constato que haya colgado su selfie en los comentarios del post quincenal del Sistema de Verificación de Usuarios de @steemitfoods y, por último, confirmo que su Logro 1 esté verificado en los casos que lo ameritan. Desde el 16 de agosto de 2021, he ayudado en la verificación de 5 usuarios:

• @reycel (Filipinas)
• @mahishines (Pakistán)
3- Sucede a veces que la barrera lingüística afecta la comunicación entre la Administración y los participantes. Cuando esto ocurre, intervengo, ya sea con la aclaratoria anticipada, una traducción más apropiada de los mensajes o, simplemente, respondiendo directamente a preguntas de los participantes. Esto sobre todo en el grupo de Telegram.
Cada vez que hay una actividad nueva, trato de resumir los aspectos más importantes del post oficial y los cuelgo en español por el Grupo de Telegram y en inglés y español por el Canal General del Servidor de Discord. Esto es útil sobre todo para aquellos que tienen fácil acceso a Discord/Telegram y no así a la plataforma de Steemit, que es más pesada. Ej.

4- Hasta los momentos he atendido 25 solicitudes para resolver algún problema por mensaje privado (DM) en Discord. La mayoría han sido usuarios pakistaníes o venezolanos; pero también ha habido filipinos y colombianos.
Además, he atendido 6 solicitudes para resolver algún problema por mensaje privado en Telegram. Todos venezolanos.
Puedo resumir los temas tratados (concernientes a SteemFoods): curación, delegación, reglas de determinada actividad.
5- He elaborado una serie de plantillas para atender una variedad de casos que he encontrado en mis visitas a los perfiles de los usuarios que publican en la Comunidad. Dependiendo de cada caso individual, adapto el contenido de estos mensajes.
Ejemplos:
• A pesar de ser buenos posts, a veces estos necesitan reunir una serie de condiciones para ser curados dentro de la Comunidad. Post:

• Incluso usuarios que hacen buenos posts y se preocupan por seguir las reglas pueden obviar un detalle que disminuye o elimina sus posibilidades de recibir curación. Post:
Me pasa muchísimo que me preguntan en privado sobre la sintaxis Markdown. Aunque no está dentro de mis funciones, me complace poder ayudar a aquellos usuarios que han hecho la tarea de estudiar el tema, pero tiene dudas. Si está en mis posibilidades, los oriento.
6- Hasta los momentos he realizado más de 50 invitaciones para que los usuarios de todas las regiones se unan al servidor de Discord y para que los usuarios latinoamericanos se unan al Grupo de Telegram. Una vez que se unen, si no logro identificar su nombre, les pido amablemente que se identifiquen y reviso sus perfiles, solo para sondear y ver i hay alguna situación irregular que deba solucionarse.
7- Por último, a lo largo de estas 8 semanas, desde que empecé a moderar, he contactado a @alikoc07 por los siguientes temas, principalmente:
• Mi disposición a conservar el Grupo de Telegram que ya estaba activo, bajo la administración de @Rypo01 (agosto 17/21)
• Relevancia de la etiqueta #sfcharity50pc (agosto 26/21)
• Propuestas de proyectos de determinados usuarios (agosto 30/21)
• Dudas con respecto al Juego del Diario de Alimentos (septiembre 2/21)
• Mi disposición a realizar observaciones a los usuarios sobre las reglas de publicación en la comunidad (septiembre 3/21)
• Usuarios con propuestas para @sf/charity
• Usuarios que infringen las reglas de participación en la comunidad, al publicar desde dos perfiles (septiembre 9/21)
• Usuarios que tienen problemas para verificarse debido a motivos religiosos/culturales (septiembre 10/21)
• Beneficios por donación de @sf/charity (septiembre 13/21)
• Realización de observaciones en los posts del Food Diary Game (septiembre 19/21)
• Plagio no intencional y otros asuntos relacionados al plagio dentro de SteemFoods/Steemit (septiembre 26/21)
• Fijación de fecha de mi primer reporte semanal (septiembre 26/21)
• Otros temas: curación, reglas de los concursos, reglas del Food Diary Game; inquietudes diversas de los usuarios, ej. con respecto al nuevo programa Sistema de Desarrollo de SP.
