STEEMFOODS RECIPE | MY FAVORITE STEAMED MOL-MOL FISH WITH MAYO

Hello @steemfoods Community. Hoping everyone here is doing great despite this trying times. Admittedly, it's my first time posting here. And I'm utterly excited to share with you all, one of my all-time favorite recipes. Actually, it was my Mom who used to cook this for us but she is currently in the province since the surge of the pandemic started, so I will be doing this myself.


This recipe is loaded with nutrients that are very beneficial to our physical health in general. And it is a common knowledge that the benefits of fish tend to be slightly higher than other meats especially when it comes to OMEGA-3 content in it. Particularly, with the rest of the healthy ingredients bundled to this recipe, no wonder it has become the choice of some healthy eaters because it is absolutely nutritious.



Here we go!



Let's start to know the list of ingredients to give us the idea what are the components making it a delightful recipe.

List of Ingredients:

  • 1 pc. fish (med or large size)
  • 3 pcs. hard boiled egg minced
  • 1 pc. medium size carrot minced
  • 1 pc. red union minced
  • 1 pc. red bell pepper minced
  • 2 pcs. sweet whole pickles minced
  • 1 pc. ginger chopped
  • 1 stk scallion sliced
  • 1 220ml pack Mayonnaise (of any brand)
  • 1 tbsp. salt

I'm sure most of you would want to try this because it's budget-friendly, healthy and delicious.

Now, I used a medium size parrot fish, actually am looking for a grouper but it was unavailable at the time of purchase, and this type of fish is what seems a good choice for my recipe today among other fish assortment on display at the market. But you can also use other fish varieties if you gonna try cooking this at home.



As for the preparation, make sure that the fish is thoroughly cleaned. Meaning, innards, gills and scales are properly removed and washed with water.

After ensuring the fish is already cleaned and ready,

  • Rub salt on the inner and outer parts of the fish.

Have all the stuffing ingredients ready.

  • Stuff fish with sliced scallions, ginger and onion minced.

  • Then, have a steamer ready and make sure also that it should be wide enough to accommodate the fish.

  • Pour-in about 1 liter of water in a wide steamer. Add the lemongrass, ginger for a flavory aroma. Let it boil, put the fish in.

Steam for about 30 to 40 minutes depending on the size of the fish. As the larger the fish, the longer the steaming duration time would be.

While waiting for the fish to cooked, cut all the topping ingredients.

Some food lovers would like to have a mayonnaise dressing but for me a plain mayo is good enough to satisfy my taste buds.

Once done cutting all the topping ingredients, prepare the serving plate, placed the chinese cabbage leaves beddings.

  • Spread a small amount of mayonnaise on it.

On the other hand, as soon as the fish is cooked. Let it cool until reaches room temperature and remove it from the steamer.

  • Placed it on the serving plate with the cabbage beddings and mayo.

  • Have everything ready to create a colorful fish display.

Arrange the topping ingredients over the mayonnaise cream. Show your creativity and you will surely enjoy the process.

Now it's complete, ready to Serve and Share as well as Enjoy the meal.
