Hoy exploraremos el mundo del deporte para conocer la historia de uno de los grandes del baseball, el Grande Liga MICKY MANTLE.
Me gusta mucho su historia. Por que en ella se reflejan el talento y la determinación humana pero también el precio que algunos pagan por el éxito profesional.

🔵⚾ AN INCIDENT START.
In 1951, a young prospect named MICKEY MANTLE debuted in the ranks of the New York Yankees.
The game was in full swing, the rookie covered his position very close to Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio.
The ball rises, comes straight at him, Mantle starts a fast race to try to catch it. But DiMaggio has also seen the ball and runs at full speed in the same direction as Mantle, the crash was imminent.
To avoid the collision with DiMaggio, Mantle performs a quick maneuver and manages to dodge it, but it causes a painful injury, one of the many that would torment him in his life.
This was the start of the professional career of one of the great superstars of baseball, Mickey Mantle.
He came from being a minor league shortstop, but his powerful batting and agility on the field had opened doors for professional baseball.
It wasn't easy. Right at the moment of arrival the fans regretted the retirement of the superstar of the ball Joe DiMaggio, whose position on the field would be covered by Mantle.
With this great commitment on his Mantle back, he performed above average.
His performances undoubtedly contributed greatly to the incredible victories that were won by the New York Yankees during the 1950s and early 1960s.
From 1951 to 1953 they won after World Series.
They were champions of the American League of during 1955,1956,1957 and 1958.
During the 1956 season, Mantle managed to hit 52 home runs and drove more than 140 runs, taking the Baseball Triple Crown and the Most Valuable Player title. All this in the short period of 5 years.
Mantle continued to shine and the Yankees garnered wins until the early 1960s.

En 1951 debutaba en las filas de los Yankees de Nueva York, un joven prospecto llamado MICKEY MANTLE.
El partido estaba en pleno desarrollo, el novato cubría su posición muy cerca de la leyenda del Baseball, Joe DiMaggio.
La pelota se eleva, viene directo hacia el, Mantle emprende una veloz carrera para tratar de atraparla. Pero DiMaggio también ha visto la pelota y corre a toda velocidad en la misma dirección que Mantle, el choque era inminente.
Para evitar la colisión con DiMaggio, Mantle realiza una rápida maniobra y logra esquivarlo, pero se ocasiona una dolorosa lesión, una de las tantas que lo atormentarian en su vida.
Este fue el inicio de la carrera profesional del que se convertiría en una de las grandes Superestrellas del baseball, Mickey Mantle.
Venía de ser campo corto de las ligas menores, pero su poderoso bateo y agilidad en el campo le habían abierto las puertas al baseball profesional.
No lo tenía fácil. Justo en el momento de su llegada la fanaticada lamentaba el retiro de la superestrella de la pelota Joe DiMaggio, cuya posición en el campo sería cubierta por Mantle.
Con este gran compromiso sobre su espalda Mantle, tuvo un desempeño por encima del promedio.
Sin duda alguna sus actuaciones aportaron en gran medida a las increíbles victorias que durante las décadas de los 50 y principio de los 60 fueron obtenidas por los Yankees de Nueva York.
De 1951 a 1953 ganaron tras Series Mundiales.
Fueron campeones de la Liga Americana de durante 1955,1956,1957 y 1958.
Durante la campaña de 1956,Mantle logró conectar 52 jonrones e impulsó más de 140 carreras, haciendose con la Triple Corona del Baseball y con el título de jugador más valioso. Todo ello en el breve período de 5 años.
Mantle siguió brillando y los Yankees cosechando triunfos hasta los inicios de los años 60.
🔵⚾ THE PRICE OF THE WIN.
Achieving so many successes was not an easy task for Mickey.
At a very young age, he injured his left ankle in a soccer game. He then acquired an infection that was improperly treated with penicillin, developing osteomyelitis that would afflict him throughout his life.
The injuries that are commonly done by a high-performance athlete turned out to be twice as painful for Mantle due to his osteomyelitis.
Countless were the occasions that he went out to play the field with severe pain in his body.
Still, he had an impressive sports career, participating in 12 World Series.
Aside from his painful injuries, he also had to deal with his alcohol addiction, which became more pronounced over the years.
Some chroniclers affirm that the permanent pain in his body, as well as the sudden death of his father and one of his children were the factors that caused his alcoholism.
This same addiction would have been one of the main causes of their divorce in 1988.
Finally, excessive alcohol consumption would lead him to develop a strong cirrhosis, requiring a liver transplant that could not be performed due to cancer that had spread throughout his body and that finally took his life in 1995 at the age of 63. years.
🔴⚾ EL PRECIO DEL TRIUNFO.
Alcanzar tantos exitos no fue una tarea fácil para Mickey.
Siendo muy joven se lesionó el tobillo izquierdo en un partido de fútbol. Adquirió entonces, una infección que fue tratada indebidamente con penicilina desarrollando una osteomielitis que le aquejaria toda la vida.
Las lesiones que comúnmente se hace un deportista de alto rendimiento, resultaban ser el doble de dolorosas para Mantle debido a su osteomelitis.
Innumerables fueron las ocasiones que salió a jugar al campo con fuertes dolores en su cuerpo.
Aún así tuvo una impresionante carrera deportiva, participando en 12 series Mundiales.
Aparte de sus dolorosas lesiones también tuvo que lidiar con su adicción al alcohol, la cual se pronfudizaba con el paso de los años.
Algunos cronistas afirman que el permanente dolor en su cuerpo, así como la repentina muerte de su padre y de uno de sus hijos fueron los factores que causaron su alcoholismo.
Esta misma adicción habria sido una de las principales causas de su divorcio en 1988.
Finalmente, el consumo excesivo de alcohol lo llevaría a desarrollar una fuerte cirrosis, requiriendo un transplante de hígado que no pudo realizarse debido a un cáncer que se había extendido por todo su cuerpo y que finalmente le quito la vida en 1995 a la edad de 63 años.

One of Mantle's greatest feats during his brilliant career was connecting a home run that still holds the position as the longest in the world.
It all happened in the city of Washington, in 1953. There was an exciting meeting between the Yankees and the Washington Senators.
