Amazing World of CACTUS , Singapore || Travel Diary, Singapore, Garden By the Bay
Hello everyone, Happy Saturday...
I was checking my travel memories and suddenly found some amazing pictures of Cactus. These pictures were captured from Singapore while visiting the Gardens by the Bay. There is an outdoor garden called " Sun Pavilion " which features one of the largest collection of cacti and succulent plants in Southeast Asia.
Amazing isn't it...
There is also a succulent garden section in the FLOWER DOME already but I have visited both. The entire environment feels like I am in a desert world of cactus.
I have never seen that cactus can be beautiful. These large sphere shape cactuses are known as Golden Barrel Cactus. This is a very rare cactus and the maximum is very old. This cactus most found in Mexico and grows in volcanic rock on slopes.
Their spines are very sharp and long and kinda golden yellowish color. Together they are astonishing to look at.
Some of them are very old, almost like 25-30 years old. I have seen one 40 years old. I was a little bit shocked to see that. They are amazing to look at.
I also love the entire landscape and how they located these cactuses. Mindblowing vibes and I had a great time exploring these spherical cactuses.
They also set up spotlights to highlight the entire space zone wise. Every zone is divided from one another.
Cactuses are succulent plants and have spines. Some of the species give colorful flowers as well. My dad had a lot of cactus once in pots but later they died because of overwatering. They don't like waters at all.
I have seen this cactus before but not sure their name. Because I am confused between "Barbary fig" (which is very common) and "Prickly pear", maybe both are similar because both of their scientific names is "Opuntia". Prickly pear is the higher classification of Barbary fig.
To be honest, I personally think these cactuses are very similar to each other but their name is different but their family is the same. First, one known as Pachycereus schottii and the second one known as San Pedro cactus (fast-growing columnar cactus).
They are really giant and height is almost 5-6 feet. Some of them are 10 feet as well.
This cactus is called Blue Myrtle-Cactus, they also give flowers and grow like a bush, a lot of branches stay together. very common cactus.
This is random capture, can't remember its name...
This cactus is known as Organ pipe cactus native of the USA and Mexico. They grow in the rocky desert area and really giant big cactus.
Last but not least I am going to share Giant water Lilly with you which is known as Victoria Amazonica, the largest plant of the Nymphaeaceae family of water lilies. They are flowering plants and known as lotus or water lilies and fragrance is wild sweet. many people love lotus fragrance more than Lillies.
I hope you have enjoyed all the pictures and my blog...
See you next time...
