Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, Nagasaki, Japan (5 pics)

Chinatowns are everywhere, some are bigger, some are more charming, some are more authentic, but one thing is certain, we always find typical shops and restaurants there.

Nagasaki's Chinatown is no exception.

An amalgamation of small streets and alleys which intersect and uncross and are decorated with pretty pictures embroidered in bright colors.

Huge red gates that mark the entrances are hard to miss.

Just as much as this beautiful blue dragon.

This district was built by and for the Chinese from the 15th to the 19th century.

At that time, the only port open to the rest of the world in Japan was Nagasaki.

It was therefore convenient for some Chinese to settle there to facilitate trade.

The Chinatown is pleasant to visit and the works of art that overlook the streets tell the story of this district in an original way.
