Today I am going to talk to you about the famous Catalinas, a traditional sweet in our country Venezuela.

El día de hoy les voy a hablar sobre las famosas Catalinas, un dulce tradicional en nuestro país Venezuela.

Today I want to share with you a little bit about myself, unfortunately these days of quarantine we have not been able to produce the money that we had been making as a family since it has not been possible to make the longed-for Catalinas that many customers have asked for in quantity from our small family business.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un poco sobre mí, lamentablemente estos días de cuarentena no hemos podido producir el dinero que veníamos haciendo en familia ya que no se ha podido realizar las anheladas Catalinas que muchos clientes nos han pedido por cantidades a nuestra pequeña empresa familiar.

My family and I looked for a way to multiply the money because with the salary we earn as education professionals, we do not have enough to supply the basic needs of the home (food and services) and we thought of starting to make the famous cucas.

Mi familia y mi persona buscamos la manera de multiplicar el dinero ya que con el sueldo que ganamos como profesionales de educación, no nos alcanza para abastecer las necesidades básicas del hogar (comida y servicios) y se nos ocurrió empezar a realizar las famosas cucas.

It is important to know that the Catalinas or commonly called cucas are a typical sweet of the region and taking advantage of the gift of each member of the family we agreed with my brother-in-law, who knows about bakery and pastry, since very young he worked doing this work, and we added investment and markenting.

Es importante saber que las Catalinas o comúnmente llamadas cucas son un dulce típico de la región y aprovechando el don de cada integrante de la familia nos pusimos de acuerdo con mi cuñado, que sabe de panadería y repostería, desde muy joven trabajó realizando esta labor, y agregamos inversión y markenting.

Las Catalinas is a very tasty candy and its appearance is dark brown and the texture very smooth not to mention, the spicy flavor with sweet aniseed, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla give a particularly exquisite taste that leaves people in love and eager to continue tasting this lovely candy.

Las Catalinas son un dulce muy sabroso y su apariencia es marrón oscura y la textura muy suave sin mencionar, el sabor especiado con anís dulce, canela, clavos de especias y vainilla dan un sabor particularmente exquisito que deja a las personas enamoradas y con ganas de seguir degustando este encantador dulce.

This exquisite recipe is quite popular in Venezuelan pastry shops, where it is quite appreciated and also known as paledonias or cucas.

Esta receta exquisita es bastante popular en la reposterías venezolana, dónde es bastante apreciada y también conocidas como paledonias o cucas.

Although it is important to emphasize that this work is not so easy, it requires time and dedication, when we make them we start at seven in the morning and finish at about midnight, to get an order of 800 to 1200 Catalinas (80 to 120 packages), although it is exhausting, the family work and the result, keeps us together and working together for a common purpose.

Aunque es importante resaltar que este trabajo no es tan fácil, requiere de tiempo y dedicación, cuando las elaboramos comenzamos a las siete de la mañana y terminamos a eso de las doce de la noche, para sacar un pedido de 800 a 1200 Catalinas (80 a 120 paquetes), aunque es agotador, el trabajo en familia y el resultado, nos mantiene unidos y laborando juntos por un fin común.

Today I wanted to share this experience with you since I usually have this sweet present in my home to taste it at snacks with a good black coffee, but for bigger reasons like the covid19 we have not been able to make our sweets and I tell you from my heart, I long to have this rich sweet at home to share with the family.

Hoy quise compartir esta experiencia con ustedes ya que acostumbro a tener este dulce presente en mi hogar para degustarlo en las meriendas con un buen café Negro, pero por motivos más grandes como lo del covid19 no hemos podido realizar nuestros dulces y se los digo de corazón, anhelo tener este rico dulce en casa para compartir en familia.
