What casino campaign to hide the big corruption?..

Anti-corruption campaigns like extortion and tendering in Bangladesh are now taking off in the midst of closing illegal casinos or massage parlors in sports clubs.

But some of the institutions against which the police raided some time ago, it was alleged that influential leaders of the ruling party's youth organization were involved.

The police raid began after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself warned the leaders and leaders of her party's youth organization against corruption and extortion and expelled some.

But critics of the government have already raised questions about the campaign. They are alleged to be hiding the big corruption of the ruling party's influencers by simply targeting businesses like casinos and massage parlors.

Although the campaign was called by the government against social crimes and corruption, it was mainly run against the operation of illegal casinos in clubs.

Two days after the Jubo League leaders were arrested on charges of illegal casino operation and tendering in the ongoing police-RAB operation, their bank accounts were seized. Authorities have instructed banks not to withdraw money from their bank accounts, including those involved in illegal gambling or casinos.

The question is whether the government is taking the campaign in a different direction outside the target? The government, of course, does not agree.

Purposeful?
Analysts say some leaders of the ruling Awami League and its allies have called for a campaign against criminal activity and political misconduct, but now it can be taken purposefully.

Sultana Kamal, chairman of the board of trustees of the non-anti-corruption NGO TIB, said the campaign was aimed at launching a larger target against corruption, which was being carried out in a smaller range between clubs.

He thinks it can be done purposefully from any palace.

"Whether or not a casino is illegal today - the debate has been curtailed here. This is confusing for us. If someone was purposefully creating this confusion, they would do a great harm to the nation. ”

“Because now an opportunity has come. When the Prime Minister has at least agreed to see and show it after so long, the campaign against corruption should go even deeper, ”- said Sultana Kamal.

The campaign is being carried out as per Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's decision and under her direction. The top two Chhatra League leaders were removed for allegedly claiming extortion.

Then came the issue of several allegations against some Jubo League leaders. Senior leaders of the Awami League have said that some leaders of the Awami League and its allies were expressing their anger over the alleged corruption and various social crimes.

The party has been told to launch a campaign to take stern action against them.

The Awami League leaders did not agree to the charges

Although many questioned the aims of the campaign, the Awami League leaders did not agree.

The general secretary of the party, Obaidul Quader, told reporters at a press conference that it might seem slow to launch an operation against the people involved in corruption.

“The expedition began only in a week. Within a week all will be arranged, is it possible? Everything will be scrutinized. ”

"Are those arrested, those taken against, are less guilty? Therefore, no one will be exempted. There are some things that law enforcement agencies are scrutinizing. Many have even covered up. They have to find out. But no one will be exempt. ”

Joint general secretary of the party Mahbubul Alam Hanif said the operation was not just against their party leaders. He thinks the campaign will go against political mismanagement and various crimes.
