I want to show you another automotive repair project that we did at my workplace just over 1 year ago

Quiero mostrarles otro proyecto de reparación automotriz que hicimos en mi lugar de trabajo hace poco más de 1 año

Let me give you a hint of the project we carried out this time

Déjame darte una pista del proyecto que llevamos a cabo esta vez

That's right, we had to repair a car that had a pretty strong head-on collision, the driver of this car lost control and hit the back of a truck

Así es, tuvimos que reparar un automóvil que tuvo una colisión frontal bastante fuerte, el conductor de este automóvil perdió el control y golpeó la parte trasera de un camión

The impact affected the roof, smashed the glass, and destroyed the front of the car as we could see. The objective is to fix this car and leave it as new, it is a great project where the client asked us for a complete painting to leave it impeccable, for us it is one more challenge

El impacto afectó el techo, rompió el vidrio y destruyó la parte delantera del automóvil como pudimos ver. El objetivo es arreglar este auto y dejarlo como nuevo, es un gran proyecto donde el cliente nos pidió una pintura completa para dejarlo impecable, para nosotros es un desafío más

Beginning the straightening process, the details that were in the car body were corrected, that is, those that we can see with the naked eye

Al comenzar el proceso de enderezamiento, se corrigieron los detalles que estaban en la carrocería del automóvil, es decir, aquellos que podemos ver a simple vista

In the case of the hood and front bumper, they had to be replaced with new parts since their repair cost was practically the same cost as the new parts

En el caso del capó y el parachoques delantero, tuvieron que ser reemplazados por piezas nuevas ya que su costo de reparación era prácticamente el mismo costo que las piezas nuevas

And the front inner part of the vehicle was replaced, this process took about 4 days, because you need to assemble the parts to make sure everything is ok. And then take it apart to fix little details and then put it back together

Y la parte interna delantera del vehículo fue reemplazada, este proceso tomó aproximadamente 4 días, porque necesita ensamblar las piezas para asegurarse de que todo esté bien. Y luego desarmarlo para arreglar pequeños detalles y luego volver a armarlo

It is done that way to see that everything is in the right place and that everything fits perfectly, since it is a frontal collision, therefore, many pieces move from their place and that is why there are several details that must be corrected

Se hace de esa manera para ver que todo está en el lugar correcto y que todo encaja perfectamente, ya que es una colisión frontal, por lo tanto, muchas piezas se mueven de su lugar y es por eso que hay varios detalles que deben corregirse

Once we make sure of that, the vehicle goes to the preparation area where we take care of correcting any blows it may have

Una vez que nos aseguramos de eso, el vehículo va al área de preparación donde nos encargamos de corregir cualquier golpe que pueda tener

This process takes two days for a single person

Este proceso lleva dos días para una sola persona

Once the pieces that had bumps have been corrected, it is time to apply the background, now it is necessary to cover with paper what we do not want to stain

Una vez que se han corregido las piezas que tenían protuberancias, es hora de aplicar el fondo, ahora es necesario cubrir con papel lo que no queremos manchar

In this case, the front part of the car was the most affected, of course, we also applied it to some parts of the body where there were various details, since it is a complete painting

En este caso, la parte delantera del automóvil fue la más afectada, por supuesto, también la aplicamos a algunas partes del cuerpo donde había varios detalles, ya que es una pintura completa

After that, it was time to sand all the bottoms and the entire body of the car to enter the paint booth, already clean and dry

Después de eso, llegó el momento de lijar todos los fondos y todo el cuerpo del automóvil para ingresar a la cabina de pintura, ya limpia y seca

Now is the time to cover with paper what is not going to be painted, that is, glass, motor, tires, among others

Ahora es el momento de cubrir con papel lo que no se va a pintar, es decir, vidrio, motor, llantas, entre otros

Once everything is covered with paper, we apply several layers of uniform paint so that the color completely covers and then we apply a product called varnish, this product makes the paint shine

Una vez que todo está cubierto con papel, aplicamos varias capas de pintura uniforme para que el color cubra completamente y luego aplicamos un producto llamado barniz, este producto hace que la pintura brille

Another reason why it was a good option to paint everything, is so that the tone of the paint does not vary

Otra razón por la cual fue una buena opción pintar todo, es para que el tono de la pintura no varíe

Now we just have to wait until the varnish dries, this car was painted in the afternoon and we left it in the paint booth until the next day

Ahora solo tenemos que esperar hasta que se seque el barniz, este automóvil fue pintado por la tarde y lo dejamos en la cabina de pintura hasta el día siguiente

The next morning, we removed all the paper and put it in the sun. Where we leave it for approximately 5 hours to finish curing the varnish by temperature

A la mañana siguiente, retiramos todo el papel y lo pusimos al sol. Donde lo dejamos aproximadamente 5 horas para terminar de curar el barniz por temperatura

After that, we called in a technician to assemble the car's new front windshield. Now is the time to start the polishing process, which takes about 3 hours for one person, it is relatively fast due to the color of the car

Después de eso, llamamos a un técnico para ensamblar el nuevo parabrisas delantero del automóvil. Ahora es el momento de comenzar el proceso de pulido, que toma aproximadamente 3 horas para una persona, es relativamente rápido debido al color del automóvil

First sand all painted parts with very fine sandpaper. And then we start to polish very carefully

Primero lije todas las partes pintadas con papel de lija muy fino. Y luego comenzamos a pulir con mucho cuidado

Here you can see that the top is polished and the bottom is only sanded

Aquí puede ver que la parte superior está pulida y la parte inferior solo está lijada

As we go, we notice how the car begins to shine again, but this time its surface has a smoother finish

A medida que avanzamos, notamos cómo el automóvil comienza a brillar nuevamente, pero esta vez su superficie tiene un acabado más liso

As you can see here, we already have two polished pieces, only eleven pieces are missing and it will be ready

Como puede ver aquí, ya tenemos dos piezas pulidas, solo faltan once piezas y estará listo

In a few minutes, the entire right side of the vehicle is completely polished, now we can get an idea of ​​what the car will look like when it is finished

En unos minutos, todo el lado derecho del vehículo está completamente pulido, ahora podemos tener una idea de cómo se verá el automóvil cuando esté terminado

Continue until all the parts that make up the car are polished, then I had to wash it and assemble all the parts that were disassembled

Continúe hasta que todas las partes que componen el automóvil estén pulidas, luego tuve que lavarlo y ensamblar todas las partes que se desmontaron

The idea is to leave the car in one piece, that process takes us around 3 hours

La idea es dejar el auto en una sola pieza, ese proceso nos lleva alrededor de 3 horas

The next day we just needed to put the front bumper together to see the end result of the finished car

Al día siguiente solo necesitábamos armar el parachoques delantero para ver el resultado final del auto terminado

This is how it looks now, as if nothing had happened

Así es como se ve ahora, como si nada hubiera pasado

But, of course, from one day to the next the car was filled with dust, so we washed it again to enter it in the paint booth, the idea is that it does not get dirty until its owners arrive

Pero, por supuesto, de un día para otro el automóvil se llenó de polvo, por lo que lo lavamos nuevamente para ingresarlo en la cabina de pintura, la idea es que no se ensucie hasta que lleguen sus propietarios

Another project finished. I never cease to be amazed at the end results, despite being part of the repair process

Otro proyecto terminado. Nunca dejo de sorprenderme por los resultados finales, a pesar de ser parte del proceso de reparación
