Today I want to share with you all a new project that I did 7 days ago together with a colleague at my workplace

It is a repair of a blow that received a vehicle in the front right, that severely mutilated the front bumper

Es una reparación de un golpe que recibió un vehículo en la parte delantera derecha, que mutiló severamente el parachoques delantero

Our goal is to fix it and leave it looking like new. Because that is what the client asks for. As a team we have all the motivation and experience to do it

Nuestro objetivo es arreglarlo y dejarlo como nuevo. Porque eso es lo que pide el cliente. Como equipo tenemos toda la motivación y experiencia para hacerlo

Generally a repair of this type takes a day and a half, in this case we must finish it in 3 days, working only half a day

Generalmente una reparación de este tipo lleva un día y medio, en este caso debemos terminarla en 3 días, trabajando solo medio día

We started by taking out the blow he had. For that, heat is applied and pushed forward. This does not solve the problem in its entirety, but it is a start

Comenzamos sacando el golpe que tenía. Para eso, se aplica calor y se empuja hacia adelante. Esto no resuelve el problema en su totalidad, pero es un comienzo

After that I started to sand the affected surface with the circular sanding machine

Después de eso comencé a lijar la superficie afectada con la lijadora circular

In this way I make sure that the sanded surface is uniform, and as I use an abrasive sandpaper the surface will be a little rough and that will help me that the putty has adhesion

De esta manera, me aseguro de que la superficie lijada sea uniforme, y al usar un papel de lija abrasivo, la superficie será un poco rugosa y eso me ayudará a que la masilla tenga adherencia

After having passed the sander. It already looks much better, we just need to correct some flaws

This black part of the bumper also had some mutilations, so we also sanded them

Esta parte negra del parachoques también tenía algunas mutilaciones, por lo que también las lijamos

Now it is time to apply the putty, this product is composed of two separate components that once mixed harden by chemical reaction

And I applied it to correct the small details that were left after having sanded with the machine

We must not forget the black part of the bumper. It was also necessary to apply a little putty

No debemos olvidar la parte negra del parachoques. También fue necesario aplicar un poco de masilla

After several minutes the putty was dry and it was time to sand, so my partner helped me, he used the sander to make sure the surface was even

Después de varios minutos, la masilla estaba seca y era hora de lijar, así que mi compañero me ayudó, usó la lijadora para asegurarse de que la superficie estuviera pareja

Now it is completely sanded and corrected

And let's not forget the black piece. It is also sanded to give it its original shape

Now was the time to cover with paper what we do not want to stain. because we are going to apply the background

The bottom is a product that seals the putty from moisture. Here it is already applied

This product takes about two hours to dry. But once dry it is sanded and serves as a base to apply the paint on the

Of course we also apply the background to the black piece

Por supuesto, también aplicamos el fondo a la pieza negra

They also asked us to correct a small defect in the rear bumper of the car. We corrected it and a little background was applied

También nos pidieron que corrijamos un pequeño defecto en el parachoques trasero del automóvil. Lo corregimos y se aplicó un poco de fondo

In this way we conclude our first day of work. So the next morning we started to sand the bottom

De esta forma concluimos nuestro primer día de trabajo. Así que a la mañana siguiente empezamos a lijar el fondo

This process takes me about 1 hour. Because I must pass three types of sandpaper to the bumper

Este proceso me lleva aproximadamente 1 hora. Porque debo pasar tres tipos de papel de lija al parachoques

I prefer to take a little longer but I do a good job. To ensure that each process is as good as possible

Prefiero tardar un poco más pero hago un buen trabajo. Para garantizar que cada proceso sea lo mejor posible

So I went little by little until I finished sanding the entire bumper

Así que fui poco a poco hasta que terminé de lijar todo el parachoques

Then it was time to wash the whole car to remove all the dust that was in it, so that when applying the paint by air pressure, the dust does not get up and dirty

Luego llegó el momento de lavar todo el automóvil para eliminar todo el polvo que había en él, de modo que al aplicar la pintura por presión de aire, el polvo no se levante y se ensucie

We collaborate to wash it faster

Now it is time to enter the cabin to start the masking process

But first you have to dry everything and apply air to all the pieces to remove the water that is hidden, that takes us about 30 minutes

Pero primero hay que secar todo y aplicar aire a todas las piezas para eliminar el agua que está oculta, lo que nos lleva unos 30 minutos

Now we do begin to cover with paper the pieces that are not going to be painted. The idea is to protect those pieces so they don't get stained

For a single person, this process takes approximately one hour. It is important that it is very good because it depends on this process not to damage the parts that are intact

This is how it looks already covered completely with paper. Now we are ready for painting

Remember that the rear bumper must also be painted. So we also mask behind

Here is my partner applying the first coat of paint to the backgrounds of the pieces

Of course we need several layers to cover the color

After several minutes and several coats of paint. The color of the car is completely covered

This is what the fully covered rear bumper looks like

As a final step to finish the painting process we apply the product called varnish, which is what gives the shine to the paint

Now we just have to wait for the varnish to dry, for that we let it cure for more than 15 hours

Ahora solo tenemos que esperar a que el barniz se seque, para eso lo dejamos curar durante más de 15 horas

In this way we conclude the second day. the next morning we had to correct some small details that the client wanted at the last minute

De esta manera concluimos el segundo día. a la mañana siguiente tuvimos que corregir algunos pequeños detalles que el cliente quería en el último minuto

One was to correct a small flaw in the front fender on the right side

Una era corregir una pequeña falla en el guardabarros delantero del lado derecho

And the other one was in the mirror on the right side

Y el otro estaba en el espejo del lado derecho

Besides, we also had to paint this piece black

Además, también tuvimos que pintar esta pieza de negro

They were details that we solved in a few minutes, we painted and ready

Eran detalles que resolvimos en unos minutos, pintamos y listo

Finally, we remove all the paper from the car and this is the end result of the complete repair

Finalmente, retiramos todo el papel del automóvil y este es el resultado final de la reparación completa

To deliver the impeccable car we wash it again
