Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 19: "The boarding school effects on children"
Good day to you all steemians.Wishing you all happy days ahead.Saw the notification to write up on this contest.Have seen some beautiful entries.It is high time I showcase my ideas on this contest.
A school is a place we send our children to acquire knowledge and technical know how of things are to help them in the nearest future.
A boarding school is a place we send our children to learn how to grow, independent of certain things,more smarter, experienced about the reality of life.Although the outcome might be good or bad depending on what side the child chooses and what kind of home he or she is from......
80% percent of parents in my country prefer their children schooling in a place they will be able to keep an eye on them while the remaining 20% send their children to boarding school due to certain reasons.And what are this reasons?
I myself didn't go to a boarding school through out my primary and secondary school level.Because I and my little sister stayed with my auntie in Lagos due to some certain reasons.

That was I friend of mine I met in school when I relocated back to ilorin.I meet her when I was in jss2.We interacted together and told me she went to a boarding school for a year but she had a bad experience that was why her parents had to remove her from the school.Although she learnt some things which is in her favour now but had to left.She told me lots of things:
•Theft which occur most of the time
•Insufficient materials needed by students
•A bad event which lead to a death of one student in the school
•Non-listening ear by the guardian in the school to know if a student is being bullied or need someone to talk to which could lead to decline
•Bad eggs of the school could influence other students into doing things that is bad and worst
So parents should be watchful of which boarding school their children goes to

Here am in dilemma,I would love to at the same time I wouldn't.The reason is that my children will able to understand things one way or the other,being independent and more smarter but at the same time I will have to train them to some extent for me to decide to put them in a boarding school because kids nowadays need to be watched over in the new era we are now.
What have been the experience trying to relate, to bond or to adjust a kid after spending years in a boarding facility. |

Although I don't have a kid yet but do know the kid will have a change of behavior about some things.He/she will have cultivated some habits then it will be up to you to correct her on what is not right from wrong when he start to show those behavior.
Do boarding school really produce people who are ready and able to cope with the reality of life without the traditional parental guidance? |

Not all individual will be able to cope and a boarding school cannot produce all people who are ready to cope with the reality of life.There will still be some certain things you won't be taught except being under your parents.The tradition and culture line of one is also important they might have been taught some but not all.
Can the discipline obtained from such institution equal that of the parents at home? What can't be learnt in a boarding facility? Do you think they are missing out of any important aspect of their development? |

They can't and would never be equal with that of parents at home because there will still be some grey areas.Manys things can't be learnt in a boarding school like you going out there to get things you need personally,you wouldn't get the opportunity to step out.Mode of greetings in your own.Mode of cooking some special meals in your family line and so on.
Yes they are missing out some important factors they could have enjoyed young.A cell phone which you can use in communicating with your parents isn't allowed in some boarding school talk less of seeing them in a month.They will keep on missing home like crazy but won't be able to go home.Freedom is limited to some things.

Boarding school can be a bad or good influence in a child life.The future of our children is in the hands of our parents as they are the one who guides us through.May we all find it easy.

Boarding school is not really on my mind because i don't like it, some friends of mine that extended it had a bad experience so it discourag me to even think about going to a boarding school.
You are right 80% of parents prefare their children to go to a near by school where they will be keeping an eye on them because they believe boarding school changes the character of someone which will make them to be lazy and allergic to house chores most especially the fenale children.
Your friend really had a bad experience going to a boarding school and her parents made the right decision by removing her from there, because staying in an environment where they is poor feeding and poor basic amenities and also high rate of stealing is very bad.
I will definitely not advise anyone to take his or her child to a boarding school because the world is indeed a wicked world so it's best they go to a day school where you will be seeing them every day and teaching them soke things they need to know about life.
