My Understanding about Emotions

are the intrinsic aspects of human beings. You can't erase emotions from us as humans because they are what makes us unique. It's our response to things happening around our environment. It shapes how individuals perceive and interact with the world around them.

Emotions play a major role in how we make decisions, communicate and take care of our well-being. Emotions range from happiness, sadness, anger, fear, disgust, jealousy, pride amongst others.

As a writer and social media manager, understanding how to convey emotions is crucial for crafting engaging and relatable content for businesses and brands. As one who uses copywriting, I've learned that words are powerful and can evoke specific emotions depending on the particular words I use to write any content.

Have I ever had emotions that made me lose myself?

Yes, I'm not often proud of how I have let my emotions dictate what I do. Thankfully, that is a thing of the past. Once, I threw a paddle at a friend in anger almost hitting her eyes. My saving grace was that she dogger it as it came at her. Only God knows the kind of news I would have told her parents, that in anger, I almost blinded their daughter.

5 Ways to deal with emotions.

  • One of the most effective ways to deal with emotions is by being aware and mindful of your environment and being able to control whatever you are feeling. Lack of control has caused a lot of people to do or say things they do not mean and will regret for the rest of their lives.
    Staying present and aware of your thoughts and feelings without acting on them is a true source of strength.
  • Sometimes, I get overwhelmed with various emotions. What helps me in moments like that is engaging in activities that help me release pent-up emotions and improve my mood, thus reducing stress and anxiety. Stuff like listening to music, music tends to calm me down and help me reflect on what is happening around me at the moment.
  • Develop healthy coping mechanisms such as deep breathing, journaling, etc. These can help regulate your emotions, and help manage and maintain emotional balance.
  • Talk it out. It is not good to be too closed up. Talking to someone helps release your nerves, knowing that someone is there to listen to you without judging you but rather help you deal with whatever you are going through does a lot of good to you.
  • Prioritize self-care. It's not unheard of for lack of self-care to trigger emotions to a level it shouldn't. It may be a normal conversation but because you are stressed, you may not comprehend the message being passed across and interpret every word in a different light. You can get angry, and become violent to people around you. You may shut down, depressed because of what someone said because you were not able to fully understand what they meant. By getting enough rest, and eating well-nourished and balanced meals, you can control and deal with emotions a lot better.

Can emotions hinder one from achieving their dreams?

Definitely, it can. Emotions can hinder people from achieving their dreams by clouding their judgment, leading to irrational decision-making because of something that may have occurred. An individual can because of anger resist going forward to pursue a goal or because of fear or confusion avoid taking the necessary steps to achieve their goals.

That's why, it is important to learn how to control one's emotions. By understanding and controlling their emotions, people can navigate challenges more effectively and progress towards achieving their aspirations with confidence and determination knowing that nothing can stop them from their dreams.
