Hello everyone accept special greetings from my home country Cameroon 🇨🇲.Once more welcome to my blog to day as I share with you my thoughts for this contest.Its a great honor participating in this week3 engagement challenge organized by this prestigious community Steem4nigeria .As the topic goes “Security matters.

As a humanbeing each and everyone will always love to live in an environment that they are free from danger.What really guarantees our life’s is maximum security with the people we live or interact with them. I will be sharing my own thoughts focused on the guidelines questions given below 👇.I hope you enjoy reading my post.

In your own words what do you understand by security

According me security can be defined as a state of living in an environment being free from dengerous act and to ensure security against toxic acts or movement. Everyone will always ensure to live in an area where there is maximum security.Peace and happiness is one of the fundamental values the a human being needs in life.

Also, security needs to be ensured where ever you find yourself wether at the jobsite, school , roads etc .We need to make sure we are in safe hands and the people we interact with them are trust worthy.

In your country what way has the government ensure to keep the citizens safe

In my country Cameroon for 7years now there has been insecurity due to the Anglophone crisis .My country is a bilingual country, languages spoken “French and English .Later due to some issues in the country the Anglophone’s air their grievances that they are marginalized from the other French speaking regions in the country .

The government gave deaf ears and neglected the relevant complains and grievances given by the Anglophones by asking for their own independence. All the government could say was “Cameroon is one and indivisible”.Later, it led to emerging of Ambazonia “Separatist group” fighting against the government.

For these 7years the government have struggled to stop separatist fighters for the country to live in peace but nothing has work.Deployment of soldiers to fights to region affected and separatist found .This is because everyday military, innocent civilians and separatists fighters are dieing everyday .My country situation is already at the peak where only God can intervene for blood shed to stop .

However, the government of my country has attempted serval measures for peace to reign inthe country.Creating disarmament center for separatist fighters who want to surrender and intergret back with people .Provided the federal status and Intergrated Anglophones into the government.Eventhough things still remain the same without anything improving.

Personally what do you do for yourself or your family to be safe in your country or your town?

For the fact my country and home town is experiencing hardship due the anglophone crisis .There following are measures I have ensured to stay safe in my country and home. town.

Firstly, I always ensure the people I go closer to them are trust worthy.With this crisis my town is full of hatred you don’t know who to trust at any time you can be kidnap or implicated for no reason.For this reason I always limits the people interact to life in safe hands in my family.

Secondly, I avoid spending late hours outside .It’s very dengerous because any thing can happen to you at any time .There are a lot of terrible things that had happen in my home town recently .See people Being killed in a bar by unidentified gun men for no reason.In order to stay safe with my family I prefer avoiding late hours.

Thirdly, I always avoid confrontation with people I don’t know.For example you are in a taxi , a gathering place or walking .You will see people who will tease you to talk but for mr I will ignore them cause the least mistake someone can killed you, harm you and even implicate you into something that you will be unable to came out.

Lastly, I only learn to mine my business with my family and stay privately with my family things.In my town making someone to know what you do for a living is save because you might be kidnapped at any time and ask for ransom some of money just because of hatred and jealousy.

Have you experienced any case of insecurity (robbery or kidnap)?What happened.

I have witnessed a case of kidnap.Which happened to be my father eventhough he is of late now. That was in 2018, on this faithful night that was thursday around 8:00pm.My father , mother and I were all sitted in the palour watching 7:00pm CRTv news .We got a a heavy knock at the door uncountable times.

When I asked who is at the door , I was requested to open the door immediately or else the door will broke down.My father asked me to open to my greatest surprise. I saw four armed men with guns and faced masked requesting for my to follow them .I was asked to closed the door and they left my father.In the morning we started investigation and searching were they took my dad to.

In the evening I recieved a strange call from a stranger requesting Ransome of money before my dad could be released.My dad stayed in the hands of the kidnappers for three days before he was released and well beaten .After a Ransome of money was sent to them.The question what did he do deserve such non of answered but that they needed him to support the struggle.”the ongoing crisis in my country.Am he was not that way in bad condition but was taken to the hospital for medical follow up.

What do you think is the best way to keep a home secured

Inorder to keep a home secure install cameras in your house that can dectect thieves.Also, avoid taking everyone you came across to your house.Make sure you always have police security number to call immediately in cases of denger in times of help.

Also, make sure you put good strong doors protecting thieves from attacking your home any time when you are not around.Avoid keeping doors open at late hours and make sure the environment you are living there is well secured.
