Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 72: How I Handle Pressure
Hello my country people, happy new year to you all. I am @tripple-e and I'm here to participate in this week 72 accelerator contest on "How I handle pressure" organized by @steem4nigeria.
Now let's get started as I'll be answering the contest questions:
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
-Martin Luther King 2 Jr.
👉What do you understand by Pressure?
In my understanding or in a lay man's term, pressure is the ability to multitask, to be able to execute a task or given job with less supervision.
Having so much work load to carry out either in the office space, business environment or even at home without help anywhere; my dear you'll definitely be pressurized.
For instance:- As a mother, your suckling baby is crying seeking for your attention, and it's time to go pick up the brother from school and there's also food to be cooked in order for your husband to come back from work and eat.
I tell you if you are ain't strong you can break down from pressure.
Pressure= stress= anxiety= tiredness
👉Have you been under pressure before? If yes, How do you handle it.
YES! With capital letter; I remember in my former work place we deal with educational services and I joined the organization newly, that very year during the long vacation, a workshop was organized for all the teachers in the 31 local government area in my state (Akwa ibom State) under FIGES ( filling the Gap Educational services).
Omg! I use to follow and write in my CV "how I can work under pressure"🤣🤣, that was my first time of coming intact with pressure one on one. But on the long run I was able to master the strategy of handling pressure by attending to one person at a time not minding how many people were calling out to me at once.
I just closed one of my ears and I was using one 👂 ear, make I no come di.e abeg🤣.
Some would pinch me, tap me etc for where; madam/sir if you are not in a straight line I can't attend to you period 🤣🤣, that did work.
👉How do you view Pressure, do you see it as something that happens to Mar or Makes you?
I'll simply tell myself this 👆
Link
I see pressure as a stepping stone or as an opportunity to explore and discover hidden talents. For instance: I never knew I have the gift of multitasking and public speaking but experiencing and encountering pressure I was able to address thousands of teachers and called them to order and they listen so as to be able to attend to their needs and complaints.
If I wasn't pressured I don't think that trait of mine would have manifested.
So to me pressure does not Mar but makes you discover your capabilities.
👉What would be your advice to those (i.e job applicant) who are quick to state that they can work under pressure.
Hahahaha! When I saw this question I started laughing because I am a victim. Infact if I show you my CV you'll see it o🤣🤣🤣. Shebi we want to impress and convinced our employers to take us not actually thinking about what the phrase "I can work under pressure" means and what it entails.
At least let us get the job first, when we encounter pressure we shall maneuver 😀. Mine I learnt it in the course of the job.
Now my advice is; Dear job applicants please don't only write in your CV that "you can work under pressure" whether true or not, make sure you develop yourself and be extremely good at whatever skill you've got or job you are employed to do.
With this, whether you are pressurized or not you won't lose focus and you'll still be able to deliver your work with maximum satisfaction to your employers.
