"A day like a thousand years":
It's a poetic way of saying that time can be relative; that a single day can feel like a very long period especially if you are facing some difficult experiences or challenges that seems for ever.
And also if you are waiting or expecting something good to happen or to hear a good news; "A day can feel like a thousand years my darlings, and I can relate to this.
That feeling you have that you've been left behind and that your mates has gone ahead of you in fulfilling destiny; can make one to feel that time is passing.
And then let's note that; that God does not measure time the way we do as seen in 2 Peter 3:8 which says:-
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
And this is 👆 actually where this phrase originated from.
I want to relate an experience I had to backup my first point that says "A day is like a thousand years when you are in a difficult situation or some challenges.
Okay! It happened one fateful night 22nd November 2021 on a Monday precisely around 1:15am, how can I forget? Of course I remember every bit of it. That was the day I lost my beloved mother to the cold hands of death.
She was critically ill, so we tried all we could just to save her life, so me and my youngest sister were staying with her where she was receiving treatment; then on that Monday night she woke us up that she was hungry that we should warm something for her to eat, my sister got up warm the food and started feeding her but before we knew it she slept on the food in her mouth; my sister not realizing that she was dead because her eyes were wide open was busy forcing the food into her mouth; on realizing that she was no more responsive called me to come check and behold when I called out to my mother there was no response, we shook, we hit, we slapped her just to wake her but she was gone.
That was when it dawn on me that my mom was dead; then we cry out to the doctor and he came out to examined her, then we observed him closing her eyes, used cotton wool to packed her nose, ears and private part while we await the breaking of dawn but that dawn seems like forever. It was just like a dream to me because I didn't feel like my mom was dead, so me and my sister just sat in the same room with her corpse watching unable to sleep because sleep eluded us wishing the day could just break but it seems the clock was ticking backward.
Then finally morning came, my elder sister and her husband arrived so as to take the body to mortuary that I believe that my beloved mother was dead; aah! See me crying and wailing. its felt that my whole world collapsed, from that day I became lost in the crowd and a shadow of myself, nothing seems to make sense to me anymore but today I'm grateful to God that I could sail through the pains and heartaches and I can even offer words of encouragement and consolation to people in similar situations.
Although that wasn't a good experience but it has added a strong will characteristic to my personality.

I invite @mhizta @yaladeeds @chisom77 to participate
I am sorry about your loss; the death of a loved one can destabilize us; I remember when I lost my Uncle in death, I was so weak, I couldn't believe he was no more. If I was so weak because of the death of my uncle, how much more you that lost your mother, please accept my heartfelt condolences.
You rightly defined that figure of speech, as" a day like a thousand years". The difficulty we face may make, a day seem long, or if we're eager for something, the day may seem to be delayed. I wish you all the best in this contest.
Thank you so much for reading and contributing, and also for your well wishes. I appreciate
